If there's anything that's very clear about the meta of any online multiplayer game is that it varies between competitive gameplay and your run of the mill casual public game play. In Dust's case that is PC (competitive play) vs Pub matches (casual play). Most will find that trends start in competitive game play and are then filtered down into your pub matches. It's a pretty simple concept. The competitive types do whatever they can to win. They might not be the innovators of said strategies, but they are the ones that put things in motion. The casual players learn these things by observation, reading a post on a forum, or watching a youtube video.
Today DS 10 released a youtube video which I hope all of you check out. It's a very straightforward approach to capturing and keeping ANY objective. It is great advice. I do not wish to detour from that statement. What he also does is plainly spell out a simple tactic that is dominant in PC. You also see this tactic in pub matches from time to time from squads that actually have competed in PC, or are merely imitating this tactic after seeing it a few times.
This video is plainly spelling out to everyone, if you cannot read between the lines, that the way to WIN any match is to SPAM. SPAM equipment. SPAM uplinks. SPAM the most effective weapon in the current build. While I'm glad that maybe now people will start putting uplinks down in domination matches, I am not at all happy about what will be in the inevitable future of all game modes once the spam is finally fed down into the pub meta. With the spam comes a massive decrease in frame rate, and the complete removal of tactical play from the game.
If all of you are fine with this then by all means ignore me, but I urge you to start caring. They have previously mentioned they're "looking into ways" to alleviate uplink/equipment spam but have not said anything beyond looking into it. We as a community, both casual players and competitive players, should be actively seeking ways to fix this as quickly as possible. I personally feel that above all the ability to SPAM anything at ANY TIME is the biggest balance issue this game has. If CCP has already devised a plan to address this I hope they will inform us how they are doing this. By being able to spam certain things that would otherwise be balanced if in limited numbers (Uplinks, any explosive) you then create imbalance due to the availability and simplicity of abuse.
We as players cannot be trusted with our toys, and mommy and daddy need to set some ground rules. This game will survive better within a universe with a more strict set of rules.
