As I played today, there were times when the audio - specific audio - would randomly cut out(then back on again)...
The Swarm Launcher targeting audio & the shield recharge audio to be more specific...
PS: I use 6.1 surround sound via an optical cable from my PS3(if that helps\means anything)... |

I've lost Swarm Launcher targeting sounds since last night as well. I haven't noticed any other sounds being missing. |

Audio drop outs are very common. It happens to lavs, assault rifles, shotguns, etc |

If you are getting certain sounds dropping out at times, what audio setup are you using? CCP Logibro // EVE Universe Community Team // Distributor of Nanites // Patron Saint of Logistics

Similar incident last eve. Not the first time my Mil swarm lost all audio. I am running Digital Opt, 2 channel 44.1. to Tbeach x21 headset. This symtom also appears when running direct to AV reciever, Hdmi or optical. It is rare IMO though. Last night was notable since it happened over several games. Also a few times AR fire was completely muted when players were right next to me. My own gun still had sound. Is there to much audio for the stream to carry? The game ran great for once otherwise. 07
Edit;rare, grenade cook sound also has no beep sometimes. |

The lock sound of the swarm launcher is also missing for me. I use my headset(the standard RCA audio is used) but I also have optical out on as well(I'm using multi audio out) plus the sound going out through HDMI. |

Have you tried defragging your harddrive? There are a lot of sounds streamed from disc, and I've tested on a badly fragmented HD and got similar things happening as described here. Defragging it helped.
I couldn't find any official documentation on this, so this will have to do: http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Home-Support/Restoring-your-PS3-File-System-amp-Database-Helps-to-Maintain/td-p/37322987 CYA here, follow at your own risk. Worked for me though. |

I had just cleaned up the hard drive last week. These audio bugs are intermitent. I do run a Defrag after any large download/patch, or if its been a while. There are a few how to vids on You tube. Its easy, and the PS3 runs smoothly after Defrag. It does not cure all Dust bugs, yet it seems to help. Maybe Tranquility should to be defragged? |

Yeah your problem sounds a little different than the defrag issue. I was responding to those who say these audio drop outs are really common.
In your case - if you have VOs muted, there is a known bug that when the VOs are playing (silently) they dip down the sound. In rare cases when there's a lot of activity I switch the sound to "low memory mode" which drops out low priority sounds (3p weapons should be upped in this case, but taking a quick look I need to revisit that). In reality, the only time I've seen this low memory mode in game is when people are insanely spamming uplinks and nanohives which eat up a ton of voices. Does that match what you were seeing? |

Yes common audio issues do get better with defrag. It helped(placebo effect?) I'm sure. VO is not muted. PTT is off. My in game audio volume is set to default. I just checked it to verify. My comms are always full of chatter. Pc battle is still noticably more instable than regular modes concerning dropouts. I use a small fan set by the ps3 as a cooler. Somtimes heat build up can cause a console to get overwhelmed. Dust does make my slim model run quite warm.
I cannot say I have observed the spamming as being directly the cause, however there is always a concophony of batlle effects. Likely the case of said memory leak. So it may just be things are really busy in game. Which makes sense. So many factors are posssible, lag, latentcy and other players doing lots of activity. Overall lag/stability in all modes is a larger issue for me. But thats another story. Hoping the patch will negate many issues! I'll report anything I can, just pointing out my end user experience's regarding this. Good luck with optimization. Thank you for your work.

Fragmentation is not an issue for me as I use an SSD.
This does seem to happen more when I'm not squadded with my voice on team(both PPT on and off). In my case this may be due to the voice bug and seeing it fixed may help. |

The grenade cooking sound didn't work for me a few times yesterday. The game was very busy sound wise at the time(pretty much every light weapon except laser, swams, sniper and plasma plus grenades, an hmg and a bolas) - I was able to hear my second grenade cook. |
