if i remember correctly, Cap (capacitor) was mentioned alongside early iterations of DUST.
its possible to introduce it into DUST, but many players would not like it. Cap has a recharge rate, modified by skills and modules.
Assault rifle, laser rifle, scramblers, blasters, rails, forge guns, and others i probably am missing would all use Capacitor. Remote Reppers, scanners, shield rechargers, armor reppers, speed enhancers, and many other utilities I have missed, would also use Cap.
Fitting Modules would require balancing each module out against how much cap it uses. Imagine running a gallente logi and running out of Cap, because you stacked armor reppers.....which historically use alot of cap......suddenly your AR won't shoot, your armor isnt repping, your shield regulator just fizzed and your repper tool and active scanner are dead, because your armor repper modules are eating all the cap your suit can muster..... so you swap out a plate for a capacitor recharger... still not enough?!.. take off an armor repper, suit works again.. but you now have less tank and reps... welcome to New Eden....
Cap on vehicles might work, but DUST doesnt have the same slot utility of EvE
EvE slots: High Medium Low Rigs
DUST Weapons Medium Low Equipment lastly on Cap: in EvE it creates micro-management, DUST being a shooter might not play well with having to micro-manage a suits modules during a firefight.
EvE slots just have far more variety to what can be fit into them, most of that variety for DUST has been moved into the Equipment Slots, leaving the other slots to be more specialised (to a certain extent).
Removing CPU/PG from equipment modules could work if a 3rd Stat was introduced, lets call it Calibration.
looking at the suits, if Calibration were introduced, then each suit would lose CPU and PG, the portion of those stats that was calculated for equipment. Each suit would then be given a Calibration budget based upon its role and meta/tech level.
This would be acceptable, but it would take away from the player the Choice of how to fit out a suit.
Im not great with maths, but I am sure that it wouldnt take much to show that introducing another stat to suit fitting would impair the CPU/PG budget enough that cookie cutter fittings (much like it is in EvE) would be the only fittings to flourish.
>.< imho the Devs already looked at and tried to pidgeon hole DUSTs stats system into EvE's and that after play testing simplified the DUST system for player QoL and enjoyment, and in doing so created less of a bastardised stat system and more an elegant version all of its own.
