This is probably a stupid question, but I have been trying to tweek my settings to make Dust look good, but I don't really know how dark or light its supposed to be. I find myself wondering how dark its supposed to be in the war room and in my merc quarters. I have a tv with backlight control and I have no idea what to set it as. So if anyone can give me some ideas as to what settings would be best to make this look good it would be appreciated. The Tv has these settings
Game, Vivid, football, baseball, standard etc,
backlight, brightness, contrast, color, tint, sharpness.
advanced : noise reduction, MPEG NR, Color enhancement, Adaptive Lumina, Backlight control, ambient light sensor.
Thanks in advance |

I recommend you to play a little dark, you can have a pretty balance in areas with a lot of ilumination, and when is dark, you really feel is dark, and become more carefully and detailed in a lot of situations, making you a little better.
I personally, like to put the brightness and the TV illumination under 45% and over 38%, the color at 100% (Notice, not all the TV's tends to have a great image and detailed colors. Some TV's with a high level of Color, gives an orange and nothing good orange coloration). And I can notice a lot of things, even before they pop up... For example, the common assault suit, or even the basic frame, heavys become a little more easier to spot, because of a shine on their armor.
I gave some details of my recommended settings, but i'll put it a little more easier.
Backlight: Let's say... Between 40% - 45% you make your choice. Brightness: 42% Color: (if your TV seems well with it) 100% Sharpness: 65% Tint: 50%
These details could not be what you want, but I hope this could be a little helpful. |

Thanks guys, yea anything will help, I just want a rough estimate of how it should look. But yes I do notice that orange sort of overcast especially on red planet types when I have the color pumped up to rich color setting. Im juggling between movie mode with slightly higher brightness, vivid mode, and game mode. Still don't know which I like but each has their perks. Whats weird is that I find it only needed for dust, games like mass effect and The Last of Us look amazing without any setting changes. But I just wanted a setting for Dust because in the right light, it looks great. Thanks again guys |

just wanted to add one thing that may help
if you go to your in game settings and go to screen scale
i'd advise you to lower it a bit the default cuts about an inch off of each side

Thanks in advance From your description it sounds as if you have a VIZIO LCD HDTV, if this is the case try these settings: Picture mode - Game
Backlight - 15 (this seems low, but it gives you very good black levels, and if you set it too high the colors wash out) Brightness - 50 Contrast - 50 Color - 47 Tint - 0 Sharpness - 3
Advanced: Noise Reduction - off Color Enhancement - Rich Color Adaptive Lumina - Extend Backlight Control - on (mine says smart dimming, but same thing) Ambient Light Sensor - off
In DUST: system operations - options, set brightness to 85 or 90 |

^ Yes, it is a Vizio E3D420VX 3D LCD tv.
Thanks for the settings, I probably should of mentioned I had a Vizio to begin with, good catch.
On a side note, the one thing that's sort of throwing me off a bit is how clear are you supposed to see colored drop suits on the field? In the war room I see people with really Red and Green type suits and on the field I cant really tell their colors. Everyone looks the same with no color separation. Its kind of weird. How does it look for you guys? |

HAHA, no problem. this is an addictive game and though not perfect and as fun as it should be, I see that its getting there and I still LOVE the potential this game has for being a free to play experience. It is only going to get better, smoother, and more interesting, but for now, it serves its purpose and is a interesting concept. Few kind words are being said about it, but there is no reason to bash a game that is and will always be a work in progress. I cant be demanding when its free lol. But yea it is a good game and it has deep aspects to it. |
