I'm an armor tanker.. before I go any further I want that to be known in case this is not intended.
According to ferroscale plates description they do not alter your speed.
However when looking earlier as I switched a ferroscale plate out for an armor repper I became slower. I was like wtf, armor repair mods make you slower o.o
But upon further investigating I noticed it was not the armor repair module that made me slower, it was the removal of the ferroscale. Apparently if you have any module that does give a penalty to speed with armor and a ferroscale plate on, your overal penalty is reduced. Take off the ferro and your speed becomes slower. This is because the 0% is getting averaged in with the % reduction in speed from other plates. so with 3 enhanced armor plates , at 15% reduction in speed + 2 ferroscale ( doesn't matter what lvl ) at 0% each, your speed reduction is now 5%+5%+5%+0%+0% / 5 = 3% reduction.
I tried this on my gal pro logi earlier. It's base speed is 4.7ms , with the 3 enhanced plates no ferro my speed is 4.15ms, once adding the 2 ferroscale with them it becomes 4.48. Quite a nice boost I must say.
When using 2 enhanced plates + 3 ferroscale your speed only drops to 4.68
This is epic news to me as an armor tanker, and I hope it is meant to be that way and description just doesn't let you know that well..
If this is already widely known, and I am way late on finding out.. my bad , feel free to call me a scrub noob
also. I suck at maths.. so that might not be how it works, but they do decrease the speed penalty and by doing so increase your speed.

I think it might be because the ferroscale has a speed reduction value of 0, meaning that it would be put into the module stacking penalty equation since it does still reduce your speed. By 0%. |

Can you try 3 complex armor plates with 2 complex ferroscale plates and tell me what the movement speed becomes? |

I run 2 complex ferroscale and 2 basic armor plates + 1 enhanced. I get 590 armor and can have 330 shields..But then again you can't fit **** for equipment. also that fit moves at 4.56 I think, or .14 off from the base 4.7, which is pretty damn good. I've known this for awhile, It's the only reason armor tanking is semi relevant. |

You can't fit 3 complex plates and 2 complex ferroscale plates on a suit. Too much CPU and PG. Also the OP is correct. This is a well known bug with the ferroscale plates. I should point out that there is no combination of plates and ferroscale plates that returns your movement rate to the base rate. |

Yes you can. And they shouldn't change it similar to the 3x armor reps till they fix armor tanking.
THANKS CCP!!
I get about 740 armor and 112 shield with my setup I just made. Duvolle, M1's, and 2 complex dps mods. the move speed sucks though. 4.26 6.26 sprint speed. and don't forget we get the lowest stamina....
To clarify though, I'd rather wear 2 complex ferroscale, a basic armor, one enhanced, and one complex. you get 650 armor 185 shields and 2 damage mods along with core locus, duvolle, and a proto hive....if making the gallente run assault is your desire. that ones moves at 4.51 and sprints at 6.62....still no stamina. |
