And increase SP rewards for participation.
Makes AFKing pointless, and rewards players for actually playing the game.
Simple. |

You misunderstand.
I'm not referring to the Passive SP you gain while logged out, only the Passive SP you gain while actually in-game, and increase the SP gained for participating to make up the difference.
Players who actively participate and contribute to the battle will EARN SP for doing so, while those who AFK will gain nothing. |

Absolutely.
Increase SP rewards for participation and contribution in battle, and stop rewarding players for hiding and doing nothing. |

Simple. You realize those AFKers are gaining Active SP through what they do, right? You gain Passive whether you play or not, but it leaves you with a much lower SP income.
Ok, so I think maybe my terminology is a little off, then.
Basically, I'm suggesting that the SP gained for simply being in the match be removed (what I referred to as "in-game passive") and increase the SP gain for kills, assists, hacks, repairs, revives, etc.
Reward ACTIVE PARTICIPATION in a match, but not standing around AFKing, while retaining Passive SP gain ONLY when NOT involved in a match.
Make sense? |

I'd be in favor of removing the 5sp per second if WPs gave a LOT more than just 1sp per (2sp per for this so called "Double SP" week). But they'd also have to make War Points more easily earned, by more than just kills or Droplinks.
Good points.
The important thing is that players should be rewarded for actually contibuting and participating, rather than for just showing up and doing nothing. |

Echoist wrote:You know the easiest way to fix afking would be to make it so if your idle after spawning in you get kicked. Plain and simple, can't imagine anyone having a problem with this except the assholes who bring down their team by afking.
There are still ways to circumvent this, though (rubber band on controller, etc). |

Right now we only have Killing WPs & limited Logi WPs (thank you OB farming bastards for ruining a good thing). That's a horrible method for determining a persons combat usefulness.
Ideally, CCP would probably need to revisit and expand upon what constitutes participation, to include and more adequately reward supporting players, I agree. |

Simple. If you mean Active SP passively gained during a match then yes this could be a way to go.
Yes, this is EXACTLY what I'm referring to. Sorry, my original post wasn't as clear as I thought, and I had attempted to clarify in a subsequent post.
I also mentioned that CCP would need to readdress what would constitute "active participation" so that new players would still earn rewards.
The key point to take away from this, though, is that SP (and even ISK) rewards should be EARNED by the players, and not just freely handed out to everyone who just happens to show up, but make no effort whatsoever to contribute, or even play. |

Simple. Nah.. There's other ways to go about it.. This is a hatchet for something that needs a scalpel.
Would you care to elaborate?
Do you know of a better solution, that both rewards participation and teamwork, while discouraging AFKing?
I'd be happy to hear it. |
