Does the warmup build calculates the damage? Or does the time you hold the fire-button down calculates the damage? |

Time you hold the fire button = continuous fire = more damage. Heat doesn't increase damage, nor time beam is on target. The strategy here is to get that Amar assault suit skill to level 5 asap, so that you can hold fire button for longer time before overheat, which will have an increase in damage. -XOXO
Description of the laser:
"but as the weapon warms up to mean operating temperature the wavelength stabilizes and the damage output increases significantly, producing a weapon of unmatched prevision and lethality in mid-range combat."
So the laser should do more damage when the thermal cavity is on the right temperature, not on how long you press that fire-button, so we don't need to reload when we are close to overheating but can just tap that button + it will make the cooldown more usefull too!
Are lasers broken? |

Are lasers broken? No because you should never be tapping the button. You want heat to build up to its maximum levels. Amarrian weapons are about dictating range in combat but also about controlling heat and over heat values.
Read the instruction again.
If I have 40 ammo left in my laser and I stopped firing because I didn't want to overheat and waited a couple of seconds for it to cool-down a BIT so that it is still warmed up to have a better damage-output instead of starting from 0 again...then yes I want to tap the hell out of my button (maybe tapping isn't the right word).
Also what I'm wondering about: Dictating range which a small effective range on the laser while other weapons can do more damage while you start to heat-up at the same range?

Never go off the lore description of a weapon for how it actually works in gameplay. It does more damage the longer you hold down the trigger, it has nothing to do with the heat build-up.
Isn't all this the basic idea why they designed this weapon? and I thought people find lore important in this game? |
