This game has a lot of potential to be a big hit if it would just capitalize on what makes it unique. I'm not saying that everything it has going for it is implemented fully or properly yet, but there are enough things to make this game take a big chunk of the market.
1) Already we have a currency system that makes every death lost income, lost potential. This is something that makes playing an FPS not just about getting the high score, but about being efficient, making the most of everything. This adds another level that I can't recall being implemented in another FPS. If tanks didn't cost as much as they did, people would just throw them into battle carelessly, taking the satisfaction out of using one, or destroying one. In BF if I destroy someones vehicle.... well a new one comes in, the guy gets a death and he comes back. Here when a player loses a tank, they've lost time put into finding money to pay for it. This has a huge emotional impact, that is time that could have been spent reading a book, watching TV, or hanging with friends..... lost in an instant. This is one of the appeals to EVE and though it may be hard to swallow in an FPS, it raises the tension and stakes for every action.
2) We have a single universe that we can all (potentialy) compete over. Putting aside that we are in only one region of "New Eden" We still have an organic playground that we can fight for control of. We have a system that makes taking something more meaningful than in a game like PS2 where you take it, they take it, log out, log in, totally different people control different things. Here you can make a claim on a spot, and be ready to defend it.
3) Interaction with another massive game..... the most disappointing part IMO so far. As someone who can from EVE I feel little connection. The designs and names are not enough to make me feel like I am interacting with an MMO. This has to be where this game can control the market for the next decade. No other MMO has the potential ATM to do this yet. EVE itself is doing well, and can benefit greatly as well from this interaction.
So it's important to note: Adding a proper new player experience is important to keep curious people here. Adding new content is important for keeping older players here. Adding more EVE interaction keeps the players in a larger solid community that will bring them back time and time again. Keeping the mechanics solid makes the game worth everyone's time. Doing something different is the most important thing to keep players from going somewhere else.
This game will never be a better BF than BF or a better COD than COD, so spend resource and effort on what this game, not necessarily does great, but what this game does differently. |

^ i totally agree this. but that's a bit vague. How to add a proper new player experience in your opinion? Wich content should be added? etc. My opinion is that dust is already different. And some how is different both in good things and in bad things. But bad things made people leave, while good things did make just some people stay... |
