Unfortunately, this would just lead to people AFKing somewhere else in the redzone.
Really, it seems the obvious solution is simply removing the non-WP related SP for battles. People would still gain passive SP normally, so the terribad players would still gain SP, and there would be no incentive to AFK farm. |

Investing time just for the skill system is the equivalent of watching a stopwatch count time. You're just watching a number climb higher. If you're not enjoying actually playing the game, why are you bothering with the skills in the first place? I just don't get it. |

When the fun stuff gets here, we AFK'ers will have the SP needed to fully enjoy it and will, in turn, drop from the MCC to use our new toys.
By the time this game is worth playing, I highly doubt the difference between your SP and mine (as a non-AFKer) will be anything other than completely irrelevant.
The irony is that all of you guys AFKing is directly contributing to the lower player count, which means less income for CCP, which leads to less developer resources and lower prioritization from CCP, which results in a longer lead time for improvements.
This doesn't even take into account the very real possibility that things could majorly change between the very real now, and the very hypothetical future where the game is "better."
If it takes another year before this game is "worth playing" we will all have earned another 10 MIL+ SP just through passive SP gains. I only play for a few hours a week and I've got about 13 MIL SP right now. So, it's easy to assume that in a year from now, at my current rate of SP gains, I'll easily be somewhere in the ballpark of 25-30 MIL SP... and I play less than 10 matches a week. If you don't think 25-30 MIL SP will be enough to "fully enjoy" the game, then I don't know why you're bothering in the first place.
I mean, step back and think about it for a minute and you'll surely see how ridiculous AFKing is. |
