So apparently CCP scrapped Inhouse QA to save $$$ and opted 100% Focus on Metrics, all while Feigning the "Importance" of Player Feedback & delivering their "Idea" of "Ideal Changes"..... Shall we have a Breakdown of this Process??? Yes we shall  :
Most recently we have seen the WP Requirement to leave Battle Academy lowered to 400 WP. This means that a Competent FPSer (Heck.....even the Average FPSer) will be considered so "L337" that "Training Wheels" are no longer Necessary after 1 Battle. And apparently a "Bad FPSer" doing all of 2 Successful Actions spanning 4 Games, or 8 for 8 if Terribad (If you can't even get an ASSIST...Gaming is obviously not for you), is "Ample" Training before being thrown to the Wolves/Hyenas..... What further Skews these "Metrics" is Alt Accounts AFK Farming in Safety on an EZ-Mode Server. So now you can have a 10 Mil SP Alt @ Zero WP, should they Choose to leave the MCC, ready, willing, & able to Protostomp in Battle Academy.....for all of 1 Match nonetheless, but the Point still stands.
So not only are these "Metrics" Skewed by Alt Farming, they are CONSTANTLY Contradicted by the Vocal Playerbase (Both Vets & Newberries alike), & the Metrics show the Newberries' Quit-Rate is significantly Higher than with the Initial Battle Academy Deployment. So we are essentially Lied to about our "Feedback Mattering", & receive the "CCP Normalcy" of an Unhealthy 180.....
Now for the fun part..... If CCP is so Focused & "Concerned" with Metrics then why is it that the AR (In all its "Glory") has not provided any "Red Flags"??? I mean.....it is after all THE MOST USED WEAPON. Wouldn't there be Plenty of Data to "Support" an AR "Change" via "Metric" Statistics??? I, in NO Way/Shape/Form, Propose/Support an AR Nerf..... I'm simply pointing out a MAJOR Inconsistency on how these "Metrics" are Applied......
More often than not, Metrics are only Purposeful in determining Market Value, Login Activity, Character Creation & SP Investment Variables (What Race/Gender/Suit/Weapon/Vehicle/Equipment most Use, or Not), & ISK Income vs Spending. They essentially have almost NO Place in determining Balance, Functionality, nor Capability/Incapability..... There are many other Factors/Scenarios I could bring up, from Replication to the Present, to further emphasize the Misuse of these Metrics.....but I believe these are Ample Examples from the 2 Extreme sides of the Spectrum.
TL:DR: CCP.....save the Metrics for the Marketing/PR Departments, KthxBAI  |

Man, you really need to learn to not capitalize every other word in your sentences. It makes it awkward reading your posts.
Other than that, though, I agree with most of what you said. The Academy change is pretty hilarious. It seems like they reason they can fiddle around with what they have to somehow make it "better". What they fail to realize is that the entire academy system needs to be completely redone from the ground up. |

I have a form of OCD & use the 1st Letter Cap to either note a Function, Name/Title/Place, Gameplay Element, or simply for Emphasis. I assure you it is not an issue of learning as I am quite capable of "proper structuring" when it comes to grammar and such.....I simply go on auto-pilot & my OCD kicks in, automating my subroutines on a subliminal level. It was difficult enough simply typing this as I had to edit mid-typing simply to accommodate. I apologize for this minor inconvenience.....so please bear with me, lol. |
