I was running a militia shotgun fit earlier, and having so much fun(when I wasn't getting screwed by hit detection) that I decided to look into the higher tier shotguns. And I thought that each tier normally adds 10% to the damage? But looking at the shotgun, 40-42 , a measly 5% increase from normal to advanced seams like a very low increase in power for the time invested. So are the higher tiers actually worth it, or could a standard shotgun basically do the same job for much less isk and sp? |

I take it thats a BPO of the basic one? I'm just annoyed that i need 170k sp just to unlock the ability to use the two highest tier weapons, the shotguns and potato launcher, such a high cost for the privilege of such niche weapons... |

Shotgun is one of the best weapons in the game, yes higher tiers are worth it. |

'Feels' the same to me when I use the K5 and the Proto but I would imagine it has to do more. I hope. Either way, I typically one/two shot people with both. Maybe one is more effective at a longer range than the other, I would imagine. |

Shotguns are pointless until they fix the aiming. The stupid acceleration gets you killed. |

from what I understand it's not just the damage increase but also optimal range increases with tears, which in the case of shotguns is worth a lot. |

Somewhat off topic. I am a scout and used to enjoy SG a few builts ago. Now I do poorly with it. My main problem is that while relying on high linear speeds sprinting to stay alive I have hard time aiming SG since it's a very short range weapon and up close rotational velocity allowed by dual shock (never tried mouse) even on 100% sensitivity is too low to aim with SG. I understand that assault suit does not suffer from this drawback simply because they have the extra time to aim since they can take a few more punches compared to the scout. |

Personally, I think the sp investment is worth it to get the tighter spread on the non breach shotguns. However, the cost and high fitting requirements are not worth the marginal, at best, increase in damage to use the proto shotguns over the advanced guns. |

I was running the shotgun on a minmatar advanced medium frame, I'm really enjoying it compaired to the caldari advanced medium, so I think I'll take that to assault for shotguns, and fun smg times |

yes the assault suit can take a few more punches, but at a base level, its not as fast or stealthy, and i emphasize the word "FEW". so, for a frontal "assault", med suit is the way to go, but if you enjoy being a ninja, get yourself a scout |
