* CCP didn't include it in the explosive nerf dev blog * it is designed for area denial and breaching in close quarters, urban environments (<40m). It excels at these beyond every other weapon, however, outside of that range, or when not having a height advantage, it is completely useless except in the most skilled hands. *The Damage/Ten Seconds is about 25% of the Duvolle, even with direct hits, and is can be countered by most other weapons should they properly position themselves, therefore, it is not OP. |

Remember, when Mass Driver users are against projectile enemies, they get 50% damage reduction since the projectile enemies miss when the MD users hop around, and the users will not miss because of the area denial ability, so I think it's fair to get rid of the "*The Damage/Ten Seconds is about 25% of the Duvolle". |

So because you have bad aim and can't hit a moving target when you're being shot at, the mass driver is OP? Did you forget that if you actually stand still and hit every round on the MD guy, you will kill him before he kills you? i assume so, as you are defending the AR which has a damage/10 sec rivaled only by large turrets.
Also note that due to the explosive nature of the MD and nanhove requirement, most MD users are callogis, so if you throw a flux, you will win every time, but of course that didn't cross your mind because you believe the AR is the one gun to rule them all. |

I would like to hope that it'll stay the same, but it's more realistic to hope that this "nerf MD" fad ends soon. We had a similar fad in chromosome, but laser QQ overshadowed it, and it was forgotten.
All my experience tells me that CCP really does nerf from complaints, instead of solid evidence. |

At close range its easy to deal damage (its suppose to beat AR at CQC), but at mid+ range its the AR that requires a fraction of the aiming skill needed for an MD. MD rounds travel very slowly unlike hitscan weapons like ARs, and have very steep drop; this means you have to account for both gravity, the time it takes to reach your target, and you'll have to predict your targets movements accurately to land hits. |

Once they fix the aiming in general the AR folks will probably settle down. Even in Chromosome the MD was a superweapon but the aiming was great so there wasn't much of an issue. The AR's and Lasers still out DPS'd everything else. Once aiming gets fixed they will be beasting again and the FOTM crowd will probably switch to those.
And hopefully they fix the explosive bonus to armor. (I'm just gonna keep repeating that until it sticks) |

I think Aeon has already proven that splash damage mechanics are not working correctly. Once those are fixed maybe the MD will be fine. Until them its FOTM and broken splash mechanics will be exploited by the adapt or die playstyle of this game. |

LMAO there are a lot of delusional MD users out there who truely believe its balanced. As someone who plays PC matches everyday and plays with several people who use and have begun using the MD, let me tell it hasn't become this popular because its a challenging weapon to use. |

I disagree. Your reasoning is sound if you want to argue that the MD isn't OP.
However CCP bases their nerfs on sudden increases in an item's use. I can see that happening already this week. Mass drivers are the new FOTM whether OP or not, and I'm guessing they have some sort of %age threshold after which nerfs are considered. |

I actuallygot a laugh out of this (first laugh an stb other quickgloves has gotten out of me, bravo sir) Mass driver is very easy to use SOME of the time. Its very good in closw quarters, such as city maps. Its very HARD to use in the open, anything and everything can and WILL mow you down with extreme prejudice. I'm a minmatar logi so I get no backup, though no sidearms are particulary suited to mid to long ranges anyway, so there is a definite range problem.
But any fool can use a mass driver at close range, it just takes a skilled player to pull off good range shots, so if the enemy has a brain (this is NOT a given, never assume your enemy is trying to outdo you) all MD fights turn into range battles, which is not the forte of the MD unless youare very skiled with it, trust me I know.
And I can count on one hand the number of people I know who have picked up the mass driver and decided to main it instead of AR.
And in pc, lots of fighting takes place in close quarters, so why wouldn't it be good? Breaching/area deniap being good in cqc fast strike/throw the line situations? Wat? Never! That would be ludicrous! How dare you think that? That would be like thinking that the government doesn't benefit from a crisis where they can step in and be the savior! |

Yeah I kinda love the idea of the Mass Driver...as a mid-range support weapon. But it never really functions like that when I come up against folks using them. Most use it as a CQB spam machine. Kinda foolish if you ask me. Especially when you factor all the smoke and distortion that the thing causes. How players don't blow the hell outta themselves is beyond me.
I think if you are going to "fix" the Mass Driver it need not have anything to do with damage...spash or direct. Instead incorporate two things:
1. Slower rate of fire and slower projectile speed. This will ensure the skill factor is present in the weapon handling. Careful shots should be key.
2. Incorporate a minimum number of "twists" or minimum distance the projectile has to travel before it is armed and will explode. This is a simple feature of most real world grenade launchers as a safety measure and will help ensure the weapon cannot be used as some kind of super-shotgun. It keeps the weapon locked into mid-range combat. You can still give the projectile some damage capability if you get a direct hit at close range...just not explosive damage.
Work in those physics and the Mass Driver makes a lot more sense IMO. |

Even by missing 50% of the time you deal twice the damage a mass driver can deal with one round; even if not twice, you deal the same.
Same example I always give: for every exo-5 mass driver round a militia assault rifle ca get off twelve. Mass driver damage without damage mods or proficciency skill is 120 rounded. Militia assault rifle deals 350 damage in that same ammount of time. No mods and no proficciency. Even if the assault rifle user misses half the time, he still deals 170 damage with no mods or skill. Now, we are comparing an advanced mass driver with a militia weapon. HTFU and stop the QQ. |
