Here is my problem: The other day i was playing a game and came across a group of enemies inside a city-like complex. These enemies were around a corner attempting to take our only hold on the city, the clone vat. I peeked around the corner and saw that they were massing around this corner with four or so medium frames and a heavy. I fired a few bursts at them, attempting to just keep them put until some blues came over to help me. I popped back out to asses their movements just in time to see two grenades coming my way, I immediately moved back and the grenades exploded harmlessly. I was about to move back when I saw three more grenades, so I stopped, waited, and watched as grenade after grenade was thrown in the same spot. i basically just put my assault rifle down and stared
Grenades don't really feel like a crucial piece of equipment, they feel more like a spam tool that you just have to get through to get to the real combat.
Would it be too much to decrease the time that grenades take to refill from nanohives? Having tens of grenades being thrown down a corridor isn't very fun. Using grenades when you need them most, cooking them to perfection, and getting the most out of you're three grenades is more fun to me than spamming.
To be clear, I'm not saying stop getting grenades from nanohives, but maybe something that slows it down a little, like increasing the time that grenades take to replenish from a nanohive?

I think we need to have EOD tools that can diffuse explosives in the general area when activated.

What in the world is "real combat"? Really? In the harshness reality of New Eden, we have mercenaries who want to get into sumo outfits so they won't hurt each other.
If my team throws 5 grenades at you...then 5 grenades were thrown at you. There's no such thing as "spamming". That's like saying if you pour a whole clip into someone, you're "spamming".
This is just utter nonsense. If we keep this up, games will be decided by tic tac toe matches. |

Well I disagree. I think having a constant flow of grenades is spamming. I mean I could just sit down and start playing solitare. I just feel like grenades should feel a little more important than just spam attack with hives. Maybe restocking grenades uses up the hive faster? I dunno, this has been around for a while, I just got really bored sitting there waiting for 4 enemies that could easily take my position and fight instead just sat there and threw grenades over and over and over but ok I guess that's not spamming...... |

hey, 3 nades in your pocket doing 600+ dmg over a 6m radius each is not a problem brah! Especially when you consider there isn't a single suit that can tank 1 of those nades when in armor...yea that's not a problem!

Pretty silly if you ask me, that you want to nerf both Grenades and Nano-hives, when Llav and tanks and dropships are the ones doing the spam-ing with their unlimited ammo and no stamina like reduction in their speed.
Maybe just maybe they were making sure that no one came at them from the direction they were throwing grenades.
Maybe they were learning how to spot their targets from that range to see where they could possibly get a kill from.
Could be they were trying for a enemy nano-hive or uplink that even though it was elevated still appeared to be right in front of them.
IF I have to hold the line while some medics are trying to revive players around me, and hold off 4-5 heavies with adv or proto level HMG's along with 2 logi guys with proto level repair tools the fact that I am using proto level nano-hives under your conditions means that I am a dead duck without taking at least 1 of the enemy with me. |

the only problem i have with grenades is the keys they use on a keyboard... ive never used the X or G keys for grenades, and it feels real awkward. |

I think nades are fine the way they are. I just find it funny how a player only gets so many nades but yet weapons like flaylocks, mass drivers and forge guns to basically the same thing, with faster fire rate, more accuracy and better range. Some grenades take up more space on cpu/pg than some weapons.
Im not a big fan of exploding ordinance though. |

I agree it is an awkward place But seriously, and i've posted this on another forum, too, IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A CERTAIN WEAPON, CHANGE YOUR TACTICS. of course i did not say that exactly, but i'm paraphrasing. MAYBE YOU SHOULD ADAPT TO THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. |

You saw grenades used as area denial instead of direct attack. What's the big deal? |

typically when I think of grenades being used as area denial I think of using them to defend a position.
Yes they can also be used in assaults to deny the enemy a position that might stop an assault long enough to move into a more favorable engagement. However when assaulting a position this way you probably wont have the time to sit on a nano hive and throw six grenades, you want to move fast in an assault.
in the situation I described the enemies had more numbers, two heavies, and three medium frames. I was the only one defending, they knew they had the upper hand. The first few grenades denied me the area, two of the medium frames were already in a good position to lay down fire, the third was throwing a grenade and a heavy was about 6 meters away down some stairs, so I assumed that they would push. The first two grenades really didn't surprise me, in fact they were really well placed and I had to put my head down and run just to get out of the explosion fast enough to save half my shields. This is when I thought the push would come, but it didn't. So I started moving back to the corner so my suit could get a scan on them and then two more grenades came around it, i was far enough away that I only had to take a couple steps back. At this point my shields had almost returned to full strength. I thought maybe this was the push and returned to cover (just backpedaling) though still no assault. i poked out of cover and this is when grenade after grenade was thrown for no apparent reason. at first I thought it was a mass driver until I noticed the red grenade icons. (Do they not show up very well for anyone else?)
instead of using the advantage they gained from those two well placed grenades and doing an assault, they just threw down a nano hive like they were defending it from one man in a STD suit with a gek and milita shield extenders. I've been in some brutal defenses too man, against waves of proto suits, we did have a nano hive though I didn't spam grenades. A well cooked and thrown grenade can tip the balance in a push. I never thought, oh thank goodness I can just throw as many grenades as I want. I was thinking how much we needed a mass driver with us. there wasnt much time between reloading, sprinting, dodging shots, and hitting to do more than get one or maaaybe two grenades out. There was still plenty of time to replenish my grenades at less of a rate then what it is now to discourage spam a little.
I'm not saying to change anything too drastically, as I started as a logi, I know what nano-hives mean to a logi-bro. This encounter made me think back to halo grenade tactics, which was fun for the first few months of multiplayer and then became stale. Still not as bad as call of duty: grenade across the map at spawn....first blood!
so less spam, more good grenade placement.
