What the mass driver needs is an appropriate gradient for splash damage. It really wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the fact that it is almost unavoidable within 25 meters even if someone gave their cat the controller and let it play. Reducing the damage would make it too ineffective as an infantry weapon, and reducing the splash radius would make it too ineffective as an area denial support weapon. |

The splash damage it's ok. The weapon is ok. If you're a long distance and someone shoots you with a Mass Driver, you can dance September - Earth Wind & Fire before the "granade" reachs you and you still can dodge it. If you're at close range, well, deal with it. Will you ask for a nerf over the shotgun too? Maybe it's too powerfull if it shoots you in your face.
TBH, I don't think they should even consider changing any weapons until we see how 1.4 shakes out. Whatever changes to the aiming and aim assist are, they could change a lot of the dynamics in firefights. As they are now, though, they are a bit too oppressive with the lvl 5 bonus, but yes I understand why MD users are defensive because nerfing them could easily turn the tables and make them sitting ducks in too many situations. |

Splash damage scaling based on the distance from target is a GREAT idea. The MD will probably require a damage buff if they implement such things, but that change would add more risk/reward to the gun. They should make it happen. I hope the server doesn't crash with all the extra maths though...
We aren't some homogeneous blob btw. Actually I would say that we are a very decentralized group. Cubs, High Times and the rest of the directors are definitely in charge, but most of the decisions are made in a manner that resembles the outcomes of democracy and our gameplay and individual functions are all chosen by ourselves. Way it works is that you have a role, so long as it works you are free to fulfill it however you see fit.
I always thought you guys were some kind of autonomous collective, like the Borg or Mormons. |
