After the recent update giving new players a sort of "tutorial phase", in which their battles are all with similar new players fighting over 1 objective point (basically domination) without anyone able to pubstomp them, and after starting an account for my girlfriend and letting her play Dust, she really enjoyed the first few hours being in those Academy battles, because everyone was on her level, making it a lot easier for someone who's brand new to the game like her begin to adapt to it. However, the point at which CCP thrusts players straight into the "real world" of Dust so-to-speak is far too short. All it takes is 400 WP, which can be accumulated by any horrible player in around 2-3 matches. It only took my girlfriend 2 matches before she was then offered the random pub-stomping matches in skirmish, ambush, and domination. Sure enough, she began to grow frustrated with no longer being able to kill anyone because of how tougher they were.
Now, this can also be attributed to the fact that she still needs to learn how to aim a bit better, but there should really be more of a focus on keeping those players in the "battle academy" until they truly understand the ins & outs of combat, or they should just keep the "battle academy" a completely different mode that any player can chose, where all you can pick is the base-milita fittings, matches that are perfect for showing the jist of Dust to new players whenever they want. Not a cruel and short-lived "tutorial" phase that only lasts 2 games before throwing players into the uncontrolled pub matches that are so often stomped by mass corps. CCP, if you just either made a game-mode that only lets you pick milita fits so the playing field is 100% leveled, or extend the WP new players have to earn to about 1500 or 2000 instead of 400, it would really help. |

After seeing how bad the beginning is for new players, i can tell why they can't really earn more people. They make the learning curve wayy too steep for regular console gamers, and that's one thing they probably didn't anticipate they needed to adjust for, a leap from PC gamers to Console unfortunately does warrant a more in-depth tutorial for new players, because they often aren't as skilled as players who bought top of the line PC's. |

It's really quite a harsh treatment of new players :/ And i thought things were going to turn around with this recent re-staffing.. |

Halador Osiris wrote:I made a new character last night and got 1200 WP in my first match. I don't know whether to be happy or sad that I'm out. My point exactly, all it takes is practically one good match to be shoved out of the tutorial mode. It's completely dumb, CCP is really hurting themselves with this |

I've been going into countless amounts of games now where our teams are able to just pub stomp the other team with absolute ease, because they are more than likely all new players. This is an absolute mess. |
