..... why not wait until we have a bunch of new players? Veterans are just getting more SP and making the gap even bigger. I know skilling at higher levels is about spreading out, not up.
Also to those that think this is preparation for new equipment, than what the heck was the x3 SP event for, other than to have us all try out 1.2? |

The sad few who have had their lives taken over, and eyes blinded by this falsity of a game get very excited over these events. And right now, thats pretty much the only people regularly playing at the moment... they forgot what a good game looks/feels like so even now they will defend this heaping pile to the end.
But me, i just pop in on the forums to get a general idea of where the games at.... and it still hovering over "nowhere". |

I like the universal cap idea; there is a set max cap that progresses as it does now, and anyone that is far behind can catch up to the mercs who were playing since the beginning of time. |

I have to agree with Anita. This probably has more to do with keeping existing players "interested" in the game.
Also, I'm guessing booster sales go way up. Expect one of these events every month from now on. |

Anyone who's gotten to about 12mil Sp has probably gotten all they want in terms of weapons/suits specialization so the gap pretty much stops there. Like one of the posts above anything after that mark is pretty much about broadening out into other stuff. Maybe once you've hit a certain amount of Sp these events don't apply but I can imagine the tsunami of tears we'd have if that was the case. I don't care about these events anymore...only thing I get out of them is a bit more for my alt but he's just for trying stuff out so its not gonna push me to play any more than I usually do. |

I can't wait until the 'gap' mentality of the community goes away. The room for better threads will be glorious! |

The way the skill system works, you can only get so tall. After that, you just get fatter. Once you max out your specialization (as many "vets" have done), any further skilpoint investment is a lateral movement at best. |

As a Cal Logi (u won't beat ME down CCP, FU!) I need to max out Shield upgrades, extension, rechargers, regulators.
Need to max core upgrades, electronics, engineering. Need to max a weapon (AR currently), with high proficiency/reload/ammo skills since I do not have a sidearm as backup and may need to use adv weapon rather than proto (i.e. rely on proficiency for my DPS) due to fitting.
To be halfway decent I need high-to-max armor upgrades, plates (need the +10% to basic/enh plates), and possibly armor repair.
I'm slow as **** so I need to max biotics; I will probably need Cardiac Regulation / Kinetic Catalyzation to at least advanced in case I need a runner fit or to speed tank, and might as well max those out since the skill improves the effectiveness of the modules.
And that's before maxing Nanocircuitry, Repair Tool Ops, and Drop Uplink Deployment.
Oh wait, they ****** my CPU up, so now I need to grind out Light Weapon Operation from III to V to cut ~6 CPU off of my weapon so I can FIT all that equipment. "WHaaaaaat?! Uplinks are PG intensive???" Might need to get AR Fitting Optimization to IV so I can cut *1* PG off my duvolle which might let me actually fit advanced grenades.
GRENADES?!! ****! That **** is expensive. And since I only have one weapon I really need those grenades. And probably need to train explosives higher than I would just as a pre-req to shave off a couple CPU cuz, again... Cal Logi.
... and that's before I even think about proto swarms or having any other suits or weapons to play around with.
... the journey continues. See you all in 2015 |

pretty much the same as me heh.
I capped outall but explosives 5 in the cpu skills, then they changed flaylocks to be a cpu saver as well so I can gain an extra 10 cpu by capping out the flaylock optimization now and since i'll be main side arming flaylock I may as well get the reload and spec maxed as well.
after that I still need to max reload on my sniper rifle, and gain a few extra points of pg off of maxing sniper optimization and try to squeeze another proto mod onto my fit.
after that I still need to 5 grenades which is currently only level 1, then hacing, then all the sensor skills which are sitting at 2, 1 ,2
my swarm launcher is sitting at prof rank 2, and i'd like to get that to at least a 4.
i'm at 18.5 no, and i'm starting to think 6 is an under estimate.

If x2/x3 SP events are to help new players catch up .. why not make them valid only in the Academy? (and make the Academy 25,000-50,000 WP) |
