It will be a wonderful day when I get my hands on a Gallente Heavy.
I may have deleted DUST but I still care deeply about this game.

Minmatar heavy will most likely have a lower base shield than the Caldari, but more high slots for customization- 4H, 1L but can sprint 6.8m/s.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Minmatar Heavy will be quite nice. Provided, of course, CCP fixes the HMG.
Though, I was thinking about the Caldari Heavy... and while the prospect of having 700-ish? base shields (with sp investment) sounds nice, I can't help but think that the shield recharge rate&delay will severely limit the suit.
I imagine that in order to make a suit that is good, one would have to use all the high slots for energizers and rechargers, and the lows for regulators. Without those, It may take forever for shields recover. It is already painful waiting for 400 shields to recharge at 40/s, with regulators, all on a Caldari Medium frame. I don't want to think how much time a Caldari Heavy will spend waiting for their shields to recover... |

Have you taken into account the racial flavours though? i.e. Amarr - Armour tank [Buffer] slow Gallente - Armour tank [Active] fast (relatively) Minmatar - Both tanks [Active] (with one being slightly more optimal, basic suit vs specialised suits shifting from armor to shields), fastest in class Caldari - Shield tank [Buffer] fast (relatively)
Dust 514 amarr is highest HP possible with shield/armor both being utilized.

I really can't say anything against it, so I guess I can just leave a cheap, slightly humorous remark.

You're actually right.
I originally made this post when shields had a clear advantage over armor, and it would of been sort of OP to give them 4 high slots, but thinking about it now, it probably would be best to change it over.

The thing about that is, there really isn't enough CPU to fit 5 high modules. Low slots have all the best modules as far as customization goes, so it helps the Calheavy to have two of them to do what they wish. Also, shield regulators are a low slot module that you might want more than one of.
High slots are just so streamlined that giving the suit 5 highs would lead to nothing but cookie cutter fits, the only difference between suits would be the ratio between extenders and rechargers.

The Caldari Sentinal would be able to reach about 1k shields and if it also has the proposed blast resistances it will be almost immune to any explosive, even a RE. I am away from my PS3 right now but I recall a RE does like 1500 damage right? So if heavies get a 25% reduction to blast damage (blast damage = explosive?) and a 30% reduction to explosive damage from shields then a RE would only deal about 923 damage.
Additionally they would also be next to immune to dropships as the only decent turret to killing infantry right now is the missile turret. Even with a proto turret it would probably take 7-8 hits with missile splash damage to kill such a suit, that is pretty much the entire clip! And if he had a forge gun it would be no contest.
Infantry: immune to locus grenades but very vulnerable to flux ones, a fair trade I guess. Tanks: A direct hit from a blaster or rail turret does about the same regardless of how much shields it has. Dropships: Blasters and rails are about useless vs infantry and missiles would take the entire clip to kill him, while he probably shooting back with something that could kill me in about 3. |

Doesn't matter 5 highs for Caldari heavy. Why? It's shield heavy. Gallente heavy can and will have over 1k armor easily and don't forget if he wanted he could just throw on a bunch of reps and kin cats and be a monster. Either way two many highs or to many lows equal op. Give The Caldari what they deserve a true shield tanker

Is one module slot really the difference between being able to shield tank and not being able to shield tank? Take a second to remember that there are shield regulators that go in the low slots, the Gallente need all five of their lows because there are no armor tank based modules that can equipped in the highs.
I project the Calheavy having two lows exactly because of what you said about the Galheavy, so he can equip kincats and be a monster. There just isn't enough customization freedom to make fun fits with just one low slot.
