So I was looking on the market at the wonderful array of dropsuits we have when I decided to compare the suits.
Minmatar get speed, Amarr get higher base hp so they're both okay.
Gallente and Caldari are evenly matched on everything, almost. eHP works out the same, except that Caldari get a much better shield recharge rate, quicker recharge from depleted, and a shorter delay. What do Gallente get? The shaft?
Not only are we, at base stats, inferior or the same to the Caldari in every way; but we have to fit armour reppers to get our health back, at a phenomenally slow rate might I add.
Gallente should either get a base rep speed, OR higher base armour, OR higher movement speed. With all the explosions happening in New Eden, the plight of the Gallente just continues to get worse. Will there ever be any love? |

Will there ever be any love? Don't bull **** me dude Amarr are as gimped as Gallente and don't hold true to their EVE side ship counterparts. How? You start off with far more base HP. Sure you move a little slower but then you adjust your style to fit that. The point here is that you still have an advantage in shields and recharge rates over the Gallente.
The main point still stands: The Gallente suits are identical to the Caldari in every way except that in the ways they differ, they are worse. There is no upside to being Gallente, and as I stated before, the Minmatar get speed, Amarr get higher eHP, Caldari get everything the Gallente do but more. |

Give shields a penalty.
Change the Armor penalty to a Stamina Usage penalty so they can strafe just as we'll as the shields, but when traversing the whole battlefield, they'll be a little slower, but they won't be totally slow and unsurvivable compared to shield. I literally could not agree more. This is perfect. |

I literally could not agree more. This is perfect. I still have to advocate that this may still cause problems as most of the useful modules that make up in armour's lacking areas are in the same slot that armour occupies. I personally think that for this reason maybe reppers and the new plates should go in the high slots. That would take one of the few advantages armor has over shields- damage mods. You mean the only advantage.
True, it would take it away, but it would allow for the gap to be closed a little between one of armours weaknesses. What use is having higher damage if you can't stay alive long enough to use it? |

Alos CCP statet somewhere in a discussion about Shield vs Armor tanks that gallente vehicles are faster due to thier racial profil so that should apply to dropsuits as well.
Also Gallente vehicles have a higher sum of HP than Caldari vehicles, the Baloch has exactly 25% more HP than a Onikuma. Which is inconsequential because it still takes just as much to kill either in most cases when you factor in any form of AV's fondness of being better versus armour. |

Optimus Antaro wrote:There will be no balance for shield vs armor for a long time. It is a lot of code to fix, and ccp rather make the game look shinnier. All shield mods need to be high, armor low, and everything else divided up evenly. This prevents any one suit from being to tanky and allows for better sandbox play. This would make fitting a suit more critical no matter what race suit you use, not just the armor based ones like is going one now. Caldary, shield extenders high, and pick and choose whatever low you want. Gallente, damage mod or shield extenders high, need at least one rep and a complex plate or more low, need a kinetic to offset speed, but now you can't stack health, unless you shield /armor dual. Yup, current armor tank =shield/armor tank.
Next look at the weapons that kill armor easily. Nader, MD, gaylock. And are area effective. How TF is someone armor taking going to get away from all of that when there speeds are close to the pace of a snail? What does we have to go against shields? Sr, which is a precision based not aoe, and fluxes. Did I leave out that locus have 2 different explode on contact? Fluxes have no such luck.
CCP's current game plan is to destroy all vehicle usage, make only infantry shield tanking viable, and noobtube exclusive. Add on top of that they are barely starting to fix hit detection (still no true update in site), it's no wonder explosives are so popular. Unfortunately this does seem to be the case, with dropsuits (Gallente in particular) losing out in most ways. |
