Real quick, let me distinguish between Missions, and Contracts. For this idea a Mission is defined as a long term goal that an individual Merc, or even a Corp, is trying to achieve. A Contract would be the individual matches being played out in order to achieve said goal (meaning, effectively, no change to current gameplay). In this way, it might take several Contracts to achieve your Mission (whatever that might be), and each Mission would have it's own ISK and Salvage reward separate from normal matches.
An example of what I'm thinking of would be this: The Gallente Federation has hired you to get intel on the Caldari, in order to do this you must Cap and Hold points during matches for X amount of time (something long enough that it would take several matches to achieve, like 2 hours total time) in order for the virus that they have provided you to send the information back to them. Each Point Capped would add to the total time, so that if you Capped one Point and held it for 5 minutes, then 5 minutes would be deducted from the total time needed. If you held two Points for 5 minutes, then 10 minutes would be deducted, etc.
This could also be applied to Ambush as well: The Amarr Empire has put a bounty on all Minmitar Mercs, kill X amount of Minmitar Mercs to achieve the Mission. Again, with a number high enough to require several matches to complete.
What this idea hopefully achieves is to add another layer to existing gameplay (as opposed to trying to come up with new Game Modes) so that people could actually care about Pub Matches and such. To give people a goal to be constantly working towards outside of the standard ISK/SP. Like maybe have Faction Specific Officer Level Items as rewards for achieving a certain amount of Missions. This would also allow the Faction War to spill over into Instant Matches and PC as well, as these Missions could be achieved in almost any match you play.
Still needs tweaking and polishing, but hopefully I've been able to describe the basic idea. |

I think this is a great idea! This would add a little flavor to the instant battles and give each person a unique experience. There could even be things like daily and weekly missions where daily would reward the player with extra ISK or gear and the weekly could give bonus SP or something.
Also, anything that would give some incentive to log on and play after hitting the active cap would be nice. As it stands, I have little desire to play games after I've capped aside from when I just want to shoot some things. +1 |

DUDE. THIS IDEA IS AMAZING. Seriously though, I am LOVING this idea. And maybe have some missions/contracts contain SP rewards as well? I hope CCP thinks about implementing this. |

So this could be a fix for such a problem! |

I was thinking that you could use Missions to tease content changes as well. Like the introduction of new weapons, Suits, vehicles, as well as large conflicts between Factions based on what the Missions are. Might be a cool Meta layer to go with what's already being done. |

I like the idea. Maybe including it as some kind of weekly mission that may or may not be individual for each player. I think it would be rather easy to implement it and may motivate players to actually play the game again instead of just afking in the MCC. |

But it shouldn't be race specific. It would suck having a mission against Minmatar for example if you always fight for Minmatar. This would especially suck when we finally get Faction Standings. Maybe let players chose a mission each week and every faction offers 3 different missions?
Yeah, that's more in line with what I was thinking. Like having a Missions tab in the UI that would allow you to choose missions from whatever Faction, or Corp that you wanted help. So there could be missions from the Blood Raiders, or Serpentis, as well as Gallente and Caldari. Also Duvolle, or CreoDrone. Player Corps could also get in the action by say, offering a Mission to kill X amount of Mercs from another Corp. |

This Idea really is neat. a sort of PvP mission in addition to whatever PvE missions we get. But there would need to be a large variety of types to keep it interesting. Even espionage type ones possibly? |

If by espionage you mean being able to effect FW then, yes, as I already mentioned in the OP with using Objectives to gather intel. If you mean being able to effect Player run Corps, then I don't know. I don't know enough about that side of EVE/Dust to comment on it. I do know that the only reason you would run, or set up, such Missions is to gain an advantage against that particular Faction/Alliance/Corp, and I'm not sure how people would feel overall about that. |

The possibilities! Imagine a corp mission which grants a set number of AUR items/copies to the top 3 players that contributed to mission success. Hell you could even give a mission that would grant all corp members an SP bonus for the next 24 hours or something. These missions would obviously be extremely long/hard (shut up) as to insure that even with 30 players focusing on the mission, it would still probably take the whole month. This would encourage active play as I would love to get some AUR code breakers or even a 50% boost to SP (my sp not that high).
I have yet to read all the posts so idk if this has all been said already.
