Yeah agreed the HP buff was a bit much, I don't feel like it should require me to land 3 advanced AV nades to kill a free LAV. In some cases it only seems to take 2, but 3 for a free vehicle? If they want to roll in a LAV like they do then I wish they'd require people to actually spec into it to be effective, militia vehicles should be considered death traps IMO.
If anything I'd like them to fix the hit detection to players, I haven't been side swiped much but I've seen it happen to others. They don't even get rammed by it, the LAV just nudges against them and drains their HP. They made it way too easy, which go figure is why every match I play in has at least a couple of guys in free LAVs doing the same thing.
As much as I enjoy baiting LAVs into my AV grenades & seeing them ram into walls next to me and commit suicide I would rather see people play this game more like a shooter than GTA. |

Very odd behaviour. I'm guessing you never played Halo. In Halo you get medals for doing it though. In Halo you need full speed to kill people, and the acceleration isn't as fast. Also, you can jump higher allowing you to sometimes evade vehicles. The only thing true in your statement is that you can jump higher in Halo than in DUST. But Halo also doesn't have AV grenades. Sure they have plasma, but unless you actually hit the vehicle with them it doesn't do anything. AV grenades follow if you miss.
They only hardly follow LAVs really, I've tossed mine at LAVs going by me many times.. you actually have to throw it very close to LAVs for it to work out, and even then it's a hit and miss with detection. When in that situation more often than not I see the nade go through the LAV, or explode on it and deal no damage to it. Either way, lame results. I only find the homing aspect useful when throwing down a couple when an LAV is coming directly towards me; or when hiding behind cover and throwing grenades over it for tanks.
Halo had it right though IMO & for the most part I don't even like that game. |

And that is your problem, you are throwing them at the LAV. Never do that unless it is stuck. See here is how I do it. I get his attention by firing a few rounds at him. Then when I see that he knows where I am I throw a few AV grenades on the ground in front of me. Now when he charges at me my grenades activate and blow him up. Works perfectly and you know this so why do you even attempt to throw them at the LAV while he is moving? Tanks are a different story. I just rush them while lobbing grenades. Wait till the turret is atleast 90 degrees away from me and charge. Sometimes I can even get the guy to jump out, kill him then hack the tank.
I do the same thing. That's actually how I get most of my LAV kills, is by setting traps with my AV grenades and luring them in. Honestly though it will only work on the bad LAV drivers. If I were driving one and I was headed straight for a guy like they do to me, and I saw them throw nades in front of them.. no, I'd just avoid the person and the area for a little while and go somewhere else. That's what I see a lot of LAVs do, and if you're a guy like me who usually carries uplinks.. then, well, you better find someone elses nanohive or supply depot and restock on those.
I know how to deal with LAVs, don't worry about that. I'm just saying the homing aspect of the AV nades isn't as dramatic as I felt your post made them out to be. Also, for the record I don't throw my nades directly at LAVs unless they're not moving. I thought that went without saying but w/e. Played many shooters now, I know how to lead my targets and set up traps for enemies.
Dealing with bad players in poorly fit vehicles should never be a problem. They either stay still for too long, or they're too predictable & their vehicles being so fragile make them an easy target.
Give a decent operator an LAV that can easily get roadkills while being able to tank 2 adv AV nades.. eh, they can go to town on people. Especially in random pub stomp matches. But w/e, I've said what I needed here. I feel a 30% HP buff would've been fine, but comeon... for free LAVs? Invest a bit if you want to reap the benefits. I used to think HMG heavies were bad enough when they exploited LAVs but now its laughable, so easy to get next to an enemy with a free LAV and jump out.. you've got to be pretty bad to get hit by 3 AV nades from one person before reaching a decent bailing point IMO.
IDK if I consider it game breaking, but hell I can't help but feel that they went overboard with the HP buff. |
