They have little in the way of options. CCP is getting good sales now because there's a lot of new players but people will only be satisfied with low tier reskins for so long before they demand something new and better.
I imagine they'll slowly increase the effectiveness of perm aur items until they're at proto level and try to justify it with incredibly high cost etc.
'Course this is an estimate of years down the road. |

Perm items are probably the biggest source of income, maybe after boosters which will never get old (but become less valuable as SP costs continue to balloon and payouts continue to drop) The current "large" set of STD BPOs is $100. That's... not cheap.
Yeah I know. They're still basic gear and reskins of exsisting models. People are still excited over the same stuff with a new paintjob. Doubt that in two years anybody would be excited by or buying more of the same stuff they all ready own permanently with some new colors though. |

If they ever sold proto bpo's it would create problems, not to mention ruin the economy.
PC free to play market, man. Pay to win business model ruins a company's reputation but it's hella profitable. I don't want them to go down that route and they may not, bt if Dust doesn't bring in the money they need to stay afloat pay to win will look a lot more appealing to stay out of the red. |

In theory, sure. Player buying/selling is planned but that's all we know. They could do any number of things. CCP Has zero obligation to avoid the Pay to win business model apart from saving face and that's all there is to it. In the end CCP is a business and businesses need to make money and be profitable.
As long as reskins are selling they'll keep making them. |

Out of the red? dude they could probably just fund this with the profits they make from EVE, they hit the 400 thousand subscriber mark in January i think (or somewhere around that date), so 10 pounds a month at 400,000 subscribers? = 4 mil a month!!!!
I reckon they're simply using us Dusters to fuel more conflict in EVE, and there fore gain more subscribers to the EVE universe.[/quote]
Game developement isn't cheap. Check out kickstarter; games with SNES graphics need almost a mil to fund and sometimes they need more from private investers etc.
I'm sure Eve being so successful is why Dust was born in the first place but I don't tbink Eve can singl-handedly sustain it. |
