The Amarr Logistics suit is the best Assault Dropsuit.
Balanced slots, balanced and high armour and shields, and a built-in armour repairer with a buff to any addiitonal repairers you equip. |

I have tried going logi but I end up chasing people trying to repair them and getting gunned down because I have no decent CQ sidearm...
I know. Amarr Logi gets a Sidearm slot.
It can operate effectively as an Assault suit. More effectively than Assault suits in some ways. Just because you have a Logi suit, doesn't mean you have to fit it for healing.
Load up on Nanohives. Or leave the slots free so you can fit better modules. |

I am NOT talking about logistics, so quit mentioning it.
So you refuse to use the Amarr Logi when it functions as a better Assault suit than any of the Assaults do.
I'm not talking about running Logi, I'm talking about using a good suit that happens to have the "Logi" title but fitting and running it as an Assault suit. And if you choose to do that, Amarr Logi is the best Assault suit. |

Wow. That actually sounds like a fit I would run. Good call. +1
For the record though, dual-tanking an Amarr Logi and NOT fitting it for support can let you operate as a frontline fighter and damage sponge really well. You're more vulnerable to burst damage because of slightly lower HP than an Assault, but against sustained damage, your repair rate can tip the balance. Shotguns, Snipers or 3 vs. 1 odds will lean in favour of something other than the Amarr Logi, but it does have viable uses as an Assault suit.
More seriously though, it really depends on what you want out of your suit.
If you're a frontline Assault, you might run an AR, Scrambler, Laser Rifle or Shotgun, depending on your preferred range. Lasers and Scramblers are better on the Amarr Assault, ARs and Shotguns are better with the Caldari suit. For the most common Assault roles, I'd recommend one of those two suits. The Caldari Assault is also a good sniper suit, for the same reason it's a god AR or Shotgun Assault. All three of those weapons are Hybrids, and all of them benefit from the suit's passive reload speed bonus. |
