Regardless, playing on Ashland and OB was called with four Reds in or around C. Direct hit, no kills.
So, CCP (not that you will reply) what is happening?
Are OBs missing, not working consistently or is this a map issue?
I have heard it from several others and they aren't all at Ashland, C Null Cannon like the one I witnessed.
Hi there,
I think what could be happening is that when calculating the OB damage, the engine identifies that there is an obstruction between the point if impact and the location of the player, thus not couting the damage for this particular pair. This is really not very different from the damage calculation on other explosive weapons.
However, I do understand the frustration since OB is supposed to be a super weapon which probably shouldn't take obstruction into consideration? Let me talk to the designers to see what they think. |

Hi
The OS will take obstructions in to account. For example if you are inside the main building in Biomass you will not be killed by a strike. If you are standing on the roof however, it will kill you because that it where the strike hits.
All the strikes also deal splash damage (pretty significant splash damage) which does occlude based on your location relative to the point of impact and any cover object. This might explain some lucky escapes! This is an area where we would like to do more work on in the future.
When it comes to targeting, the first strike will go to the spot where you aim. The remaining strikes will be distributed in the surrounding area based on a radius (each strike has a different one).
Hope that helps explain things.

Could it be that players are also considered an obstruction and I actually served as an imortal shield for him?
The obstruction has been considered in all the versions.
And yes, currently it's binary and player is also considered as obstruction so what you described is very likely to happen. |
