Noob question: When you buy one on the market, is it permanent? About to buy an Amarr Heavy Frame A-1 for 9200 isk and need to know. Can't find the info on this anywhere. Or are there blueprints? |

When you buy something it goes to your inventory. Dropsuits are not standalone, but must be fitted with at least a weapon to be used. When you fight and die in a dropsuit+fitting (all of the additional modified equipment/modules) you LOSE that suit and equipment. This is spelled out in the tutorials pretty clearly.
If by 'permanent' you mean 'infinite' then my answer is 'only items that say blueprint and have a blue square around them' are infinite. THese should cost you Aurum to buy. |

So essentially, playing without Aurum is a pain in the ass, and I shouldn't do it, given that currently I die like 8 times every match. |

Believe it or not but the starter gear is actually decent, and you can modify it as you wish. Also, standard and militia gear is dirt cheap, you get a minimum of 100k per match, and can get up to 500k. I average at around 250k with standard gear. |

Atreyu Rheya wrote:Is it possible to play competitively without ever using Aurum, would you guys say? Aurum gear isn't better. It has exactly the same stats. The only difference being is that you need less skill points to get into stuff. So for example you have the prototype nova knives, which require Nova knives level V? You can get a Aurum variant which is exactly the same, only requires Nova knives level III. |

Aurum Blueprints are Standard-tier at best. Most are Militia. Using gear of that level against an equally-skilled player who spent ISK on better gear will result in you dying more easily than if you were running ISK gear yourself.
In the competitive aspects of the game, AUR gives you no advantage. Some AUR items are single-use items, and if you don't quite have the necessary skills trained for the next level of ISK item, you can use the AUR version in its place, but if you die, you lose real money. When you consider that most skills provide passive bonuses, though, you'll realise that skilling into the ISK version means you effectively have a better version of the item because of the buff from the passive skills.
AUR lets you save ISK on unimportant battles, and earn SP without risking any ISK to do so, but with more customisation than the Starter Fits allow. It also lets you fit items above your current skill tier, but the lack of passive skills means you'll have a harder time fitting the weapon, and the handling might not be quite as good as when you skill up fully and buy it with ISK. If you're really strapped for ISK, or you want to run your expensive gear without worrying about the ISK price, you can use AUR to buy Prototype gear when you're already skilled up to use it, and that means you're throwing real money away so you don't have to throw away in-game money, which is kind of stupid, but I guess some people might get a kick out of never having to run "cheap" equipment... |

Atreyu Rheya wrote:Is it possible to play competitively without ever using Aurum, would you guys say? Yes, it is possible but you will not have as many SP as people that buy implants. I did not spend a single dollar since I start playing this game(I'm not including EVE). |
