I have been using the Remote Explosives (RE) for a while now and find them to be very useful. I also find them to be very limited. I think the top tier RE should be able to have a specific detonation order.
At the moment you need to press L1 to trigger the RE while in the RE loadout, but this detonates all of them at once. I would like to see the L1 button, on the top tier only, be the initiator and while holding L1 you could then press Square, Triangle or Circle to detonate the first 3 RE in the order they were placed and have the X detonate all.This way you have more control over the RE while still limiting the overall use. |

That sounds like a good idea! The ability to choose between one at a time or all at once would add an interesting dynamic. You could have RE planted in different places throughout the map and set them off in order.
Maybe make it so you hold L1 and one button does them in the order you placed them as fast as you push it and another button sets them all off. |

This, and also stick to things. I reallllly want them to stick to things like enemy tanks and LAV. Even friendly LAV's and leave it for bait so an unlucky red dot caps it an dies immediately once i see him an his two buddies trucking around the map lol |

A useful feature I think would be nice would be if you could place a RE on a structure (causing extra damage to the structure) instead of just laying it on the ground beside it. I mean it's kind of sad if I can't take out a structure with remote explosives, I mean that is kind of the idea behind them isn't it?
Then this could also lead to interesting AV tactics such as running at a tank and try to stick it with your RE before he kills you. |

While holding L1, it should mark the locations of your REs.
Line up so the crosshairs are on one, and it will change to green. Press R1 to detonate. If no RE is marked in this way, pressing R1 will detonate all currently-placed REs while L1 is held.
Why not? This could be a variant instead of the standard, or it could be applied to the regular versions. Either way, it's a good idea, and something like it would be nice. |

I like the idea, the only thing i would add is make it a sub skill of explosives something you need to train into. this way a guy cant just spec a couple levels into RE's being able to do this. Make them put a good amount of SP into it.

I was going to say, "Meh, it's fine; just carry two (or three) different types with you, and do it that way," but I like Garrett's elaboration of the idea at #6 there. Ravhin's idea of it being a different skill than the base Demolition skill is good, too. Call it "Remote Explosive Proficiency" for consistency, perhaps.
And, in the meantime, just carry two or three different types of RE with you, and do it that way. ;-) |

Perhaps, though it may be a bit too powerful for any one soldier. If you really wanted to do this you could fill your equipment slots with multiple remote explosives and switch to the one you want to detonate, or squad up with multiple remote explosive users. But then again, I wouldn't be totally against this either. |

Oh, and, yes, yes! YES! on the stickiness. I'd love to be able to stick the damned things on walls. And tanks. And clones. :D
Onto clones... man... that would be soooo FUN! Place a bomb on my teammate send them into the spawn area... Or attach one to some unsuspecting guy and wait tell goes to his teammates. Place RE on myself with a shotgun... if you shoot me in the right place you WELL die... |

There is just SOOO many things you could do with explosive... You could place them and even detonate them with the tactical map by selecting which one you want or all at once, give the drawback of having to hide while you are doing it, but the advantage of knowing what is surronding your explosive to create maximum casualty. Create demolition charges that would specifically target vehicule, building or infantery which would be rather easy considering the fact that the repair tool already use the exact same mechanic. They could also create shaped charge that would be more directional, a bit like a claymore or anti-tank mine in the real world, it would have higher damage in a more specific direction and from less to none on other. |

As someone who loves Remote Explosives, I love the idea of being able to pick and choose the order in which they go off. It's almost pointless to even bother dropping 5 on the ground at once because all you really need is one or two on an objective since they all blow with a single button press. Or at the very least, adding more variations of REs like the Sticky variants for anti-structure/Vehicle purposes or even Claymore style directional AP mines that go off on their own but only blow in a single direction.
If it required more skill points to gain access to more specialized explosives then so be it. But some of the most fun I have in this game is getting kills with Remote bombs. |
