more like you want PRO FITS !!!
ill tell you rite now being mostly the best tanker in game its all about what YOU Feel like and what Gun your using .
to start you off here you have 2 guns to pick from
Blaster or Railgun
Blasters are for your battle tanks
and battle tanks are hi HP tank with a booster
the best battle tanks are armor tank they have the most buff but are slow to turn and get up to speed * *so remember when ever driving a battle tank stay close to cover as your speed is your heel .
now for a armor battle tank pro fit
1 L blaster
2 small blaster
Low,s 1 L rep 2 Armor hardeners 2 Resistance plates or 1 Resistance plates and a S rep ( only use fit in close in map) ( or if in a open map armor plate)
Hi.s 3 resistance amplifiers
and thats a battle tank.
shield battle tank
1 L blaster
2 small blaster
Hi,s 2 resistance amplifiers 1 shield booster 1 shield extender 1 shield hardener
lows 2 power Dignostic systems 1 systemic hybrid damage mod
and thats battle tanks. fittings may or may not be up to date with build and remeber to max out you fitting skills for CPU and PG. as well as mods
as for railgun tanks there called TD,s ( Tank destroyers)
and they only good for one thing ! (and yes i 99%of the time use them)
the best TD,s are shield tanks with the soma being the only Good armor tank if you only look at isk cost and may be the best tank for the job but most TD,s that are good are shield tanks.
TD shield tank 1 L railgun
2 small railguns
hi,s 2 resistance amplifiers 2 shield hardener 1 shield extender
lows 3 dmg mods for L railguns
TD armor
1 L railgun
2 small railguns
1 Resistance plate
2 Armor hardeners
1 L rep
1 armor plate

ok for this to work you need to do is
max L raillgun skills to MAX !! with turret o[ to 5 as well.

For the ultimate EHP shield fit you actually want 2 shield extenders, as an extra 2k+ shields is more EHP than an extra 11-15% passive resist.
The best shield fit is currently
2x Hardener 1x Resistance amp 2x shield extender
Lows= either power diagnistics or damage mods depending on your tastes/needs/map
to calculate EHP use the following format
Tank base shields * shield control % * power diagnotics * power diagnostics + extendors
Then
Previous total * Hardener 1 * Hardener 2 *amp1
If i have that math wrong please correct me (note that shield control and power diags only increase based off the base shields of the tank and do NOT take extenders into concideration) |

The reason for two hardeners over 2 amps+1 hardener is because 2 hardeners are nessesary for the inevitable OB that gets placed on your head (if you activate the moment you hear the siren of death you should come out of the OB hurt, but you will survive (although due to slow shield recharge you will be out of the fight for quite a while unless your feeling risky or the rasberrys arnt throwing alot of AV your way.
Lows= either power diagnistics or damage mods depending on your tastes/needs/map

battle tested this in every build i ran tanks Failing fit at one time this worked but not any more with low resist you make it ezer to be killed by other tanks and forge guns are going to start loling at you.
this is why http://www.eve-guides.com/other/tankend.php Shields and armour both have a natural base resistance to damage:
Shields: 0% vs EM, 60% vs Explosive, 40% Kinetic, 20% Thermal.
Armour: 60% vs EM, 10% Explosive, 35% Kinetic, 35% Thermal.

Two reasons: first, extenders and armour plates tend to be quite hard on the grid and CPU, and in the case of armour plates, they also add to the total weight of the ship GÇô slower, clumsier ships get hit more often! if that was not anuff there is a % modifier for whats hitting you like AR only gets its 12% thats a -88% to AR vs Tank or L railgun vs LAV 110%- 115% + 10 - 15 % more damage or Railgun vs HAV 125% - 189%
in one hand if your going to vs just AV like mines and RE and SL use the buff with a booster
PS: o one more thing when useing boosters and RR with hi resit you makes it ezer to tank incoming dmg and rep back up |

This conclusivly proves that 1 shield extender is a vastly inferior fit and the only reason to only have 1 shield extender would be to fit a booster, not an extra damage amp.
Of course fitting a booster sacrafices EHP but lets you get back into the fight quicker after taking alot of damage (although you will have to retreat before the buffer shield would of had to)
1st thing i want you to do is go to the shop take the price of all the best stuff you would use and add it up. 2nd Can you fit the pro 1700 railgun on it still ?
now add up the price of this fit with the 1700 rail gun .

You should either do 1x shield extender + 1x booster or 2x shield extenders
Every otehr possable combination is weaker than those two options and will soak up less damage before exploding.
Ont he other hand i hope to see you in a game, we shall pit our railguns against each other and settle it once and for all (you wont like it)
1st off my fit put out more dmg then yours 2nd i fire alot faster then your rail gun even tho there the same do to the 3 dmg mod i can unload 3 rounds down range buy the time it take you to get 2 and your fit only will take 2 hits
so it plays out like this we bout hit R1 at the same time no lag but becus it take mine less time to charge up and fire your hit 1st when your 1st round hits me my 2nd is going down range when your .5 sec away from firing your 2nd my 3rd round is 150 m out of my raillgun heading for you to top it all off im doing 25+ more dmg
so no you do not win you lost be for you could fire your 2nd shot this is the same fit i use for my TD when i ran STD and PRO tanks.
your fit is a Old fit from the days where tanks dint need boosters |

im only runing sica,s and soma,s this build just letting you know not that you think im being a **** when your tank blows up from a sica that can 2 shot it. |

If its purely a numbers game then doudle extender eeks out first, extender+rep takes second and yours takes third

Your gimping your EHP and your gaining no benifit from doing so

im sorry numbers games dont fly with me i look at what works and my fit works a lot better for TD
as a battle tank fit yours is a old fit that fails now. |

A note for others reading this thread, if you do not have the ability to fit the 15% AMPs then you get more EHP moving to 2 shield extenders, so make your you skill up those resistance AMPs asap |

charge up time is .3 s with the 3 dmg mods its .0345s interveals 2.2s with 3 mods they are .253s |
