This bug has been in the last 2-3 builds and I don't know if it's been addressed and or brought up.
Every time, no matter who it is, when I kill someone with a sniper rifle and the player returns I CAN NOT KILL'em. The other player on the other hand can snipe me back in one hit. I return and go to snipe back and I get shield flash after shield flash after shield flash after shield flash after shield flash after shield flash...................................................................... You get the point.
Hope to see a fix soon. Seriously frustrating! |

Yea this is a serious problem that I have noticed trying to snipe. It doesn't have to be a player that has been revived or someone you killed before. There are 2 things that I noticed when i always have this problem.
1. It usually is a problem of trying to shoot a sniper that is on the other side of a hill top with only a part of their body sticking out. This makes me think it is a collision problem where it thinks the bullet is actually hitting the ground instead of the target, despite aiming at the head and having a red dot. Usually you can move to a flanking position for a better target and hit them.
2. The other time I notice the problem it has that BLUE shield flash around them like you explained. I have had this happen to me both on people behind mountains as well as people running out on flat land in the open. When it happens out, this problem doesn't always persist ( first shot or 2 hit blue shield, next 1 or 2 deal damage). This blue shield we speak of is the blue shield that you will see pop up around friendly vehicles or structures when you shoot them. So maybe the mechanic might deal with not recognizing teams (sometimes in spawn you will see a yellow name or even red name at times). |

This is a well known issue. Search for Hit Detection related problems.
There are know problems with the Hit Boxes in DUST. These are software structures that allow the game to determine if a round has, indeed, hit a target. Thus the Hit Box name. The issue has been theorized as the HB not correctly aligning with the 3D Model of the target.
Slightly sideways positioning appears to aggravate the problem. Sometimes the model clips through the terrain and will appear even though, technically, you shouldn't see it. Don't forget to check that your pip turns Orange. I made that mistake earlier in the builds a time or two. Forgetting that the pip must be Orange to register a solid hit got lost in the heat of battle more that once.
Again, search for Hit Detection.
Add [Bug] to the front of your subject header if you want to add to the extensive bug list for the problem. Or you could Like some previous post and that should work as well for letting the Devs know the problem still exists. Which I am sure they do actually. |
