i would go along with that but it'll probably encourage more scouts to go shotgun -.- but other than that it would improve your survival rate rather than just dying from a slap kinda sad everything kills a scout without trying lol |

They have no effectiveness at mid range.
And everyone wants to see stealth/cloaking on scouts. |

Already got modules that dampen signatures. Cloak is only viable if either you uncloak with no shields, or you cannot fire a weapon for a second or two.
I am not interested in scouts magically appearing beside me and instakilling me with a proto shotgun.
I am interested in scouts being able to move through the battle space in order to help setup ambushes, or relay information. |

In EVE cloaks don't work if you are within 2km of something (and you can't use active mods). The equivalent in dust would probably be something like 'decloak if you come within 20m of another non-cloaked player / vehicle / installation, or if you use an active mod'. |

You can run fast with them, produce the nice sound and eventually embarrass (yourself) even now. But with a cloak, ah...

Decloaking based on vicinity sounds like a good idea. Alternatively I would like a cloaking device that needs to be held in hand while it is active and that deactivates whenever you move.
That way it would definitely not serve to farm kills in close quarters or when sniping but would rather be a tool to set up ambushes and to temporarily avoid detection. |

I think the best cloack ive seen was in Kill zone if someone was crouched and cloacked he was hard to see and the slower he moved the harder he was to see if he tryed to sprint he effectivly decloacked, when weapons were fired they decloack and had a bit of a cool down, i think this is best option as it discourages hiden run and gun shotguns, encourages scout sniping (intended sniper suit)

I want to see them, but I also want them to take up a good deal of PG/CPU If you want to roll a decent shotgun scout, then put a cloak on it, you're probably going to need to use a specialist shotgun. |

I would assume that cloaking will be a piece of equipment. This will make it something you toggle, and prevent Heavies from using them.
It will probably have a decent PG and CPU cost making it something you sacrifice for a bit in your fitting. That said it gives a good enough advantage to be worth it.
I hope it will be like EVE where you are invisible, but unable to shoot or use anything else until you deactivate it. |

I like player stealth class in MMOs and FPSes but I know it is the most tricky class to get it right. I would think...
while cloaked:
1) unable to attack; 2) it should be visiable, at least in some sort of 'Predator' style sillhouette, starting at within 20 to 30m; 3) (if I understand scanner correctly) should still be scannable; 4) cloaking deactivate shield, may be.
once uncloaked:
1) should take a little while before re-clocking again
The stealth mod should be a little higher on the CPU consumption.

i like where ur coming from apart from number 3 .. if u can scan a cloak then its not really a cloak and maybe lower number 2 .. to say 10km then 15k .. ect but i would add to the list a timer .. after all these suits only have so much cpu/pg |

Scannable but with the lowest scan signature. Like submarines, they are supposed to be undetectable but with the right and dedicated tool, they may still be find albeit very difficult. Or like a black op team, it may be in a dug out but once it starts to mobilise, there is a possibility that the team can be detected.
So while cloaked, and if the scout is not moving, he should be very very hard to detect unless he is right next to you. Like a submarine enters into complete silent mode, you are not suppose to be so easily find it unless you are lucky enough to bump into it by accident. As soon as he starts moving, his scan signature starting to get larger, but not as large as any other uncloaked mercs around. And if he starts to sprint, he signature gets bigger still making him easier to detect. So like a reccon scout, if he is sitting in a observation post, no way he can be seen unless the opposing side knows where exactly to look; when he is crawling around, his chance of being detected gets larger but not large enough for unsuspected foes; but when he is running into battle, difficult may be but his chance of being spotted is certainly larger.
Most game breaking stealth works on an on/off mechanic, which makes instant kill easier. While others use it as a method for movement and positioning, which works better and fairer to those uncloaked players.
I also suggested while in cloak, shield should be deactivated. Cloaking itself is a superb defensive tool. While it cloak, one can easily use the environment to his advantage, and of course his freedom of movement has drastically increased. So any more defensive power is not necessary.
So in my mind a cloaked scout works like a silent stalker either gathering intel, moving into an advantage position or waiting for that opportune moment for glory. But as soon as he gets a bit excited or reckless, using the cloak as though it is an invulnerble protection, he ends up with a bullet in his head. |

Should be like in eve. If you get too close to another player it auto in cloaks you, let's say 15m. Then it becomes less of a device to aid killing and more of a device to aid in SCOUTING. |
