WARNING: Nothing of real substance here; IGÇÖm just contemplating what may or may not happen in the future. It will all depend on CCPGÇÖs final game mechanics governing corporations and sovereignty in New Eden, but feel free to comment.
Currently, there are Eve Corporations and Dust Corporations. It is now easy to make a distinction between the two because Eve Corporations were originated in the Eve Online platform, have a CEO that is an Eve pilot, and are composed of Eve pilots. Dust Corporations were originated in the Dust 514 platform, have a CEO who is a Dust mercenary, and are composed of Dust mercenaries.
Once Dust514 goes live in Tranquility, all of that can change. This is because the game mechanics will allow Dust mercenaries to join GÇ£EveGÇ¥ corporations and Eve pilots to join GÇ£DustGÇ¥ corporations. This mechanic can start to blur the distinction between what is a GÇ£EveGÇ¥ corp and what is a GÇ£DustGÇ¥ corp.
Take this scenario, for example, involving a hypothetical GÇÿEveGÇ¥ corporation named FutureCorp that decides to recruit Dust mercenaries into its ranks. Is it still an GÇÿEveGÇ¥ corp? Perhaps it still is because it originated in Eve and its CEO is an Eve pilot?
Now letGÇÖs say that through coordination and cooperation between its Eve pilots and Dust Mercenaries, FutureCorp is able to claim sovereignty over a solar system. Everything is fine and FutureCorp decides to elect a dust mercenary as its new CEO (or the Dust mercenary uses deceit and trickery to take control of the CEO position). Is FutureCorp still an Eve corporation? Perhaps it still is because it originated in Eve regardless of the fact that its CEO is a now Dust mercenary?
What if all the Eve pilots of FutureCorp leave the corporation in protest over the new CEO and all that remains are the Dust mercenaries - is FutureCorp still an Eve corp? Perhaps it still is because it originated in Eve despite the fact that its CEO and all of its members are Dust mercenaries?
And what if the opposite were true where a corporation that originated in GÇ£DustGÇ¥ transforms to the point where its CEO and all of its members are now Eve Pilots. Is it still a Dust corp?
Just wondering.

But from a "social" standpoint, players would view a corp based on what it is composed of. They would not pay attention to where it was created.
Thanks for your analysis; it points points out the technical and social contexts of how New Eden corporations can be viewed in.
My thoughts are that coporations will start out being viewed from the technical standpoint. Then perhaps, over time, some corporations might transform to the point where they are viewed from the social standpoint. |

Well put, Jaiden, and thanks for reminding me that Eve pilots are referred to as capsuleers. I haven't played Eve in 2 years. I've been thinking about upgrading my PC hardware just so I can get back into Eve. |
