Hello everyone,
I just have a question regarding the sniper rifles. I've recently taken it on and right now I'm using the NT-511 (forgot the name) and it has damage of 209, a RPM of 50, and costs ~11,000 ISK if I remember correctly.
Now I was looking at the later stages of the sniper rifles and at level 5 there's a sniper rifle that costs ~50,000 ISK but has the exact same stats as the NT-511, yet I'm paying so much more for the exact same stats.
Why is this, and is there an actual noticeable difference, and if so, in what way?
Agian, according to the stats they show that they're identical.
Thanks for the help! |

CPU and PG are different. (C27 I believe, you can't buy it, it's a drop.) |

Doesn't the CPU and PG actually increase (takes up more CPU in my dropsuit)? I normally check the guns CPU and for every level increase, the CPU requirement to be equipped increases as well.
Or in this case it's less? |

Isokone has higher damage, kaal has higher RoF
The C27 has the same damage and RoF, but requires sniper lvl 4 (NT-511 is 3). The C27 has lower PG and CPU requirements, that'll let you put on more mods/equipment/etc./etc.
Not sure which rifle you're referring to.
It's also good to note that after maxing out reduction in scope sway (lol useless, but needed for higher lvl rifles) you can start to increase the damage dealt by the rifles. |

To be honest, if you're looking for utility and overall team-usefulness, I wouldn't go much further in sniper rifles. Their role in corp battles is fairly limited, and there are just so many of them.
They do have their role, and they are useful in certain situations, but they aren't exactly needed to win. Teams need AV if the other team field vehicles, they'll need vehicles if they field assault, they'll need assault to hit objectives/cqc, and logis to back them up. I wouldn't be surprised to find corp battles with no snipers in them at all. If a team fields a sniper, it makes much more sense that he'd be able to switch to assault, av or logi, or be one of those primarily and switch to sniper when needed.
Keep in mind that snipers share some skills with other light weapons, so mass driver or assault rifle would probably be your best bet. |

I'm slightly surprised to hear this as I am a sniper who would like to be in a Corp. eventually. While I'd agree you need to limit your snipers to 1 or 2, I don't see how they are any less valuable than a grunt. They lose the ability to capture points but they gain the ability to observe a large portion of the battlefield at once as well as potentially defend 1 cap point single-handedly. A good sniper can also easily get 15-30 kills with few deaths as well as surpress any enemy snipers. They are also best equiped to skill up as a sprinter/hacker and get an early advantage by capping points in the middle of the battlefield first.
Plus, I don't see anyone being successful with 16 jack of all trades...you'd be much better off specializing your 16 slots into unique roles that compliment each other (8 assault, 2 heavy, 2 av, 2 logi, 2 sniper for example).
Back to the OP...
The snipers rifles (non-Tact) now go 199-209-219, I believe last build they were 189-209-229. |
