You're all complaining about an issue that doesn't really exist. "Oh man, tanks are to good on these wide open maps that are generally in barren areas not well suited for urban life, talk about OP". When we have more urban areas, things like dropships and tanks will have less use. Sure a tank might be able to dominate a street, but it can't really shoot through buildings. I noticed on that map with the Warbardge (Ashland?) tanks were a rarety, and only on the outer objectives, they very seldom went inside the compound.
The real "issue" is just that the game is currently not optimised well enough for the PS3 to handle such urban and cluttered areas, and as such we are stuck with some very wide open spaces in order to acheive playable framerates. I never heard a single complaint about tanks or dropships on (Ashland?) the only issues I ever heard about were shotguns and framerate drops.

They can be little more than scarecrows if a good infantry-heavy team knows what they're doing.
Missile Turrets are the only thing that really needs major adjustments, and anything else about vehicles either needs to be buffed or left alone. Swarm Missile pathing is an issue, and also needs addressing - done properly, this should be part-buff and part-nerf.
I've seen games where one team has a couple of LAVs or Dropships called in, and they get instapopped, while the other team is slaughtering with their 3+ HAVs, but it's Skirmish, and the vehicle-less team wins because nobody's leaving their tanks and the infantry are keeping hold of all the objectives. Generally, a few AV guys, while unable to kill a coordinated tank squad, can force them to keep moving and prevent them from bringing their full power to bear on an objective for long enough to help. If you can't clear the objective for long enough to let your infantry hack it, then you need more feet on the ground and less in the tanks.
Even after all the time I've been gone, you still have valuable, relative input. Goes well with what I'm saying, tanks aren't really an issue, people just need to look at them differently. The game is set up for them to shine right now, the PS3 cannot handle building/graphical clutter (with the lack of optimization), so urban areas are out of the question. As such tanks will shine until further optimization can allow for more crowded maps.
