I hope someone read's this.
In the latest build the Dropship was made to fly more realistically, this pretty much made that playing one was as dangerous as walking out into the front of a tank. I've gotten used to the controls and I can say that they keep people who aren't pilots from flying long. My point is that now it takes some measure of skill to keep a drops ship up in the air in a hotzone. So why is it that it requires no skill at all with a tank. You drop the thing then you shoot at people. That's it, one guy can take out 20 people easy. Realistically it takes about three to four people to work a tank, for Dust you'd really only need two, the tank driver and then the controller of the main gun. A drop ship doesn't need two people to fly. I have no real issue with the tank being a tank but with power must come some draw back. With the drop ship it's draw back is it's venerability and weak armor. The tank should have one to justify it's power.
also the game needs some kind of in game commend beyond voice head sets not everyone has one. Look at Metal gear 4's online play for example. I loved it because I could give back some manner of feed back to my team. |

He's saying tanks should have separate drivers and gunners.
It would make tank usage much more tactical than the current '1 man death machine' nonsense.
Not to mention stupid stuff I've seen tanks do like drive p walls because they are trying to hit a target off to one side.
This would of course have the downside of tanks with good communication becoming even more powerful. |

Anyone who has piloted a tank knows that in most cases, piloting alone is a death sentence. You really need all 3 people to be a 'death machine' and not end up dead yourself.

in new eden, i can pilot my ship, which has 8 guns, an active tank, ewar mods, navigation, afterburners, slave injectors that act like NOS, etc, all from the comfort of my goo filled pod, if i were in a tank, and could not control atleast 1 gun (same should apply to ds's even if its a fixed position hmg duct taped to the bottom) then this sleeper implant tech that all of us clones have isn't that great. |

You are not hardwired into your tank quite like you are into your ship in Eve though right? I don't think its unreasonable to have 2 people be a requirement to drive and use a tank effectively. It would encourage more team play, which is what Dust is going to be all about. |

I figure if we can control a digital tank with 2 sticks and a couple buttons, I don't see how it makes much sense for an actual merc to need 2 people to do the same job. Would it promote teamwork? Sure. But if you wanna roleplay it up, it really don't make much sense. |

You don't NEED 2 people. But 2 people would be more effective.

Skilling for a tank would be near worthless and wouldnt fix the one man death machine. If anything it would make them even more deadly. |

Really. I'd like to see you navigate the invincible shipping containers at full speed whilst shooting something diagonally behind you.

If it's a TWO man death machine then the ONE man death machine is fixed.

Just watch the icon at the bottom of the screen to spot the orientation of the tank? Even so, for all the possible situations, having 2 people really isn't going to increase the effectiveness of a good driver in almost all cases. |
