A zombie like map would be cool if a squad could go in and have to survive countless waves of zombie hordes, also my prison idea is a multistory prison convicts vs military |

Sounds cool. "Your squad must clear a facility of EVE pilots gone mad". It would be like Resident Evil only they would come out of pods instead of crates. |

See, this is actually what we -will- be able to do, but with Rogue Drones. Just imagine those zombies replaced with flying machines that have tentacles like Doc Oc and come at you in waves and you've got the general idea. |

The prison idea sounsd a lot more interesting than the zombie one!
I can imagine a map where one team has to defend the prison and the other has to attack the prison. The prisoners can be used to the advantage and disadvantage to either team. For example, if the defenders lose point A the doors of the prisoners are released in a certain area of the map and the defenders will have to worry about fighting them as well! Or the defenders could unleash prisoners to attack the attacking team!
Though it doesn't necessarily have to be prisoners, maybe captured rogue drones? |

if you're willing to kill "rogue drones" instead of "zombies" then ccp has already mentioned wanting to add a mode like that for PvE. |

But how about a prison full of zombies! |

I agree and am thoroughly against zombies being in Dust.
I don't want to see games becoming purely a formula.
Do I want my game to do well? Then I must have sex, zombies, rappers, and *****. Etc
Zombies are already in way too many games and I'm tired of developers not having the discernment to understand you shouldn't shove as much **** as possible into your game just because it sounds cool or is popular. You're game should be sleek and well crafted. Not This - R2D2 Overkill
So in closing. I also say NO ZOMBIES DEAR GOD. |

At the risk of sounding like a neckbearded hipster...
I've been a zombie enthusiast for the last couple decades. At first when the rest of pop culture deemed zombies worth their attention it was a helluva lot easier to get my hands on merchandise, but it's gone too far. Zombies went from being a tool for social commentary (wherein the survivors were more monsters than the zombies) to being an afterthought to boost sales. Even I've got all my posters and figurines and such in storage these days because there's just too many damn zombies everywhere. Instead of being something special it's just filler.
Kinda how Everquest was an amazing concept, and has since been cloned to the point that it doesn't even get credit for the genre it pioneered. Now you can't swing a mouse pointer without landing on an ad for another cookie cutter mmo that's almost exactly the same with slightly different graphics. (I'm lookin at you SWTOR)
The same thing has happened with FPS games over the years too, but the history there is a bit more complex and isn't the point of what I'm trying to say.
The only company I've seen that has tried to do anything different is CCP. EVE sure as hell isn't King of the Elves in Space Online, and Dust is only similar to Call of Battle: Blue Teabaggers at a passing glance. It's a little late for them to start pulling out the tropes that other companies have resorted to don't ya think?
Forge ahead, do something different. |

I say no, flat-out to zombies.
Think of other things for shooting up.... how about.. mutated plants? Failed experiments to cross-breed plants with animal specifications that were intended to aid in defenses on planets where mercs are scarce or more security is needed than can be provided etc..
The plants are unable to spread further than the laboratory (so it cuts off the boring "OH NOEZ its an infinite infektion" storyline--think "Zerg" from Starcraft, as that theme has also been quite overused >.>), but there are survivors within the lab/blueprints needed for tactical strikes that were being analyzed, and they need a team to go inside to get them/it. (can be team vs team with plants as environmental hazard(PvP), OR PvE with plants as level opponents)
The plants could have large chomper leaves (think Jumanji) that would continuously spawn within certain hallways. the chompers can be killed for good if the root is destroyed.
If PVP: the plants can be forced move by using chemicals on the plant nodes (aka the chompers will spawn in another hallway potentially allowing for traps to be set up, by luring then changing chomp-positions) Pheromones can be spread on players as well, which will entice the plants to attack at longer range than normal in that player's general direction until player is dead or out of range again.
Explosions vs certain types of plants may be unwanted, as then the plant could blow out flaming spore clouds (as the explosion may have ignited it) Or hefty bark-barriers that resist most types of gunfire could be placed across entrances so that attacking a point covered by plants would require some thinking and observation. |

We're already getting rogue drones, which is better than zombies in my opinion. I don't understand the current obsession with zombies. No zombies, but maybe zombie-like enemies like Sansha's army (though I imagine they would be armed since Sansha is a weapons manufacturer): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojWmtsRLZYw
I would much rather have hostile native animals on some life-bearing planets as obstacles that attack you. Imagine fighting giant giant bug-like animals the size of a dinosaurs, or fighting off a stealthy pack of reptile-like animals that hunt stealthily in a pack. |

Eve has futuristic "zombies" in it's lore already, see sansha's slaves. With what's going on in eve PVE at the moment it would tie in pretty well if they were introduced in some form.
If not, rouge drones sound great. |
