I am VERY intersted in mastering all vehicles in dust, and I assume I am not the only one with that goal. So I am creating this thread in the hopes that all you vehicle pros will shower us scrubs with do's and don'ts of the trade. So If you have any Vehicular knowledge, please post here. Untill then I will be doing donuts in the spawn, trying to master LAV controls. |

Don't run into light poles. Not sure what those are made out of, but if you glued them to your vehicle, you'd be unstoppable. |

start of by making a plan/target and aiming for it. decied whats best for you, missle/blaster, shield/armour, speed power etc and stick to it.
you will always do more harm then good trying to be a jack of all trades.

Best tips from Experienced drop ship commander. Is your dropship/tank/lav broken? dont have armor repair or sheild boosters? use a supply depot to repair yourself to full!
Drop ship controls
L1 - Positive Lift L2 - Negative Lift R3 UP/Down move camera up or down L3 turns the ship
If you are the squad leader, then click Down on the D-Pad, opens up man, Highlight yourself and press X. Highlight the "rally" button and this way your squad will know to get inside da dropship!
How to do the RickRoll. - After your team mates have jumped out of your dropship and are capturing the point, you commence vehicular manslaughter on the spawn point. you hover over the spawn point, press L1 L2 L1 L2 L1 L2 L1 L2 while rolling RLRLRLRLRLRLRL on the L3. if you do it perfectly at spawn b you can litterally SCRAPE the ground and anyone that spawns will instant pop.
if your about to blow up, hit O to bail out and prevent your enemy from scoring a kill. thus allowing you to call in a new militia vehicle and commence another attack run.
Flying a dropship? You better be equipped with Drop Uplinks. place drop uplinks at sniper vantage points (towers/pipes/nooks/crannyz) You will get massive points when your team runs out of spawns and has to use them to prevent getting spawn raped. major points this way.
i usually put a uplink on two towers at the start of a match and periodically throughout the match. if my drop uplink that was on a tower is taken out and i notice, then its possible someone is up there setting up a snipers nest.
if there is a dropship on a tower and you have no gunner Ram them until they fall off. the first ram should be the hardest. if they do not fall off, or take off, ram them again. if they are in a gunner seat, ram the gunner seat you will kill them, then you can park next to it and blow it off the tower.
Basic fitting for Eryx Missle Turrets x2 Power Diagnostic System x2 Sheild resistance amplifier x4 sheild/armor repair are not required, use the supply depot to repair armor and sheilds when needed
how to deal with pesky swarm launcher spam. oh nos i just got shot by 5x swarm launcher heavys!! incoming swarm, you can 1, hear the swarm, 2 see the swarms being launched,
when the swarm comes, you must get to full speed as soon as possible. either run in opposite direction or go straight at them if they were recently launched,
now the swarms chasing you what to do? keep flying dont worry, now you see the tower, circle around it, a couple of those swarms will get picked up by the tower, okay now theres a couple more still and you just got hit by a forge gun and your in armor, okay now keep goign as fast as yuo can, circle around far away, around towers, into red zones, behind mountains, behind pipes, and then when you recharge your shields a little bit more, fly onto the supply depot and ram into it. as soon as you hit the supply depot your armor will start refilling, hopefully you didnt hurt your sheilds doing this and now you can get repaired as you wait for the remaining swarms to hit you.
thats right. you have to let them hit you to stop them. they will keep on your ass until they hit so be ready for it. fly away, recharge sheilds, drop on supply depot, take the hit, rep up, get back into action.
because the supply depot is basically your repair bay, you must focus on defending this objective if you really want to go on a rampage and ****.
use a mic to coordinate with your gunners. every time i join a match first thing i do is say, "hey does anybody want to be my gunner?" if you want massive amounts of kill assist get two decent gunners.
skills required for dropship.
Caldari race. - very important.
Sorry Gallante, but drop-ship racial bonus for missile turrets and bonus to shield skills is a must.
max out asap all engineering skills. get them all leveled up. get your small missile turret 5, proficiency 1, so you can give your gunners the best missle turrets. then after that, and lots of practice in the Viper - hatch, you can skill up to the Myron, piloting, vehicle command. |

primary objective for dropship pilot should be to defend the supply depots. consider these your lifeline against swarm launcher spams. |

Swarm launcher spam? I think you mean that pesky dropship spam. The amount of militia dropship spam is utterly ridiculous. |

Mind you I will still fly entire salvos into a building, but when I know the swarm is there, I will turn such that I am broadside to the swarm and flying away from it. When this is done right, you can take a viper and withstand a full load from a Wyrakomi launcher.
Your dropship flies just a bit slower than the swarm, and what happens is that the swarm will follow you until it either hits something or runs out of fuel (This is a small map, so what seems like infinite fuel is not really). When the swarm get's a certain distance from the target it does a maneuver called 'Terminal Phase Pop-Up'. Now, because your dropship is moving in more than one direction when this happens the Swarm falls behind and drops back into chase mode. This process repeats every few seconds before a single missile hits, and the process continues a few more seconds before the next missile hits, etc. etc. Eventually you will get hit by each missile unless your orbit flew them into buildings or ran them out of fuel, but they will be spaced about 15 - 20 seconds apart.
Now, each missile in the Swarm does 350 damage, but if you have level 5 in your shield recharge skill (Shield Operation?), your DS will recharge that 350 damage in about 15 seconds.

Not a bad fit, but it is a bit sub-optimal... A better fit; Missile Turrets x 2 Power Diagnostics x 2 Shield Resistance Amplifiers x 2 Damage Control x 1 Shield Recharger x 1
Resistance amplifies do stack, but they take a stacking penalty, so the first one reduces the damage by 25% (Using the best one), the second one by another 12.5%, the third by 6.25%, and the fourth by 3.125, for a total of 46.875%
By changing it to my fit, you get, the first one reduces the damage by 25% (Using the best one), the second one by another 12.5%, the damage control gives 19% for a total of 56.5%... But you also get 10.5% recharge from the two power diagnostic systems (they also have a stacking penalty so the first is 7%, the second is 3.5%) and another 14%(???) from your shield recharger for a total of 24.5% boost to your shield recharge rate (Which should put you somewhere around 30 DPS rechgarge (Not counting your skill bonuses of course). |

Thought that resistance amplifiers didn't have stacking penaltys other than compound resistance. Ie 4x25% resistance isn't 100% if you was being hit with 100dmg then 25%/100 then 25%/75 then 25%/56.25 = 42.18
Or am I incorrect? |
