Excluding the charged shot which is better at close range especially against scouts with shot guns

Ooops! I think its the CAR Burst scrambler pistol. I need something with a large reticule for close range finishing in chase my nova knife doesnt finish off my opponent. Bolt has too much of a delay, scrambler pistols have too little a reticule I have SP into bolt and scrambler but none into the ion pistol

Ion pistol. Scram is heavy on shields. Ion is balanced on both shields and armor and fires quickly with more shots. If using scram use breach.
Death is a serious business. So is running a shoddy, half-baked game company.

If you can handle the slow ROF the Breach Scrambler Pistol is a great finisher. It hits hard enough to offset the damage profile favoring shields, and head shots are devastating. The Ion Pistol is a much better close quarters panic weapon of you're going to be spraying and praying, and has the charge shot option I you can catch someone off guard.
I can't explain exactly why, but the BrScP just feels like it handles better. Like it interacts better with the auto aim or hit detection. Then again, maybe it's just because I've used it for so long.

The above two gentlemen are correct. I've been praising the Breach Scrambler for days and days now, and it's my sidearm of choice on everything. Most of the time, I don't even use my primary weapon, just run around with my pistol out whipping the unsuspecting.
And as stated, headshots are devastating. I've one-shot killed many a Merc with a headshot from this gun.

The breach scrambler is great if the enemy is not strafing because the reticule is so small a rapidly moving target can easily be missed especially in a scout suit. I have used the breach scrambler with a lot of success if its my first weapon to take out shields or destroy medium suits before they can turn around but if I am spotted by a scout and need to engage I cant use it, so its a horrible weapon to bare with a nova knife. I might just swallow my pride and get a submachine gun but I wanted to stick to single shot weapons as a principle haha

Do you use a Mouse and Keyboard?
And the keyword is "unsuspecting" when you are seen by strafers its rather useless

BrSCP FTW.
Provided I see them before they shoot me in the back of the head, I wreck shotgun scouts with the BrScP...generally by backpeddling and shooting them in the face. So much so, that I generally put away the ARR in favor of the BrScP when I see a scout. Let them strafe all they want, once you get used to the single shot mechanic, there's not much they can do about a 600+hp shot to the face.
The Burst ScP and Ion both pale in comparison, IMO.
And, FWIW, these days I use an Aimon PS Elite as my input device. |

The Burst ScP and Ion both pale in comparison, IMO, but the BrScP has been a great equalizer for shotgun scouts since the EWAR changes put everyone at a disadvantage.

FWIW, I still can't do crap with the bolt pistol. And it's not for lack of trying. The charge time and slow ROF makes it impossible for me to kill anything but noobs -- forget the fast movers like a strafing scout.
But with the BrScP you can time the fast movers. AA helps in this regard as it gives your reticule some stickiness with the target.
However, the best thing I did for my gun game in the past year was to run pubs for a month with dual breach scrambler pistols then integrate this newfound skill into my other suits. The BrScP pairs well with any armor-biased weapon like the CR or RR (or the ARR, which is what I typically pair it with), and it's a scout killer once you master it.
So, please, try the bolt pistol again -- just don't be upset if I dance between the shots and counter with a BrScP round to the face. |

I prefer the Ion Pistol mostly because of ammo. Having only two mags in the Burst Scrambler Pistol sucks.

With the ammo and clip size skills the Scrambler Pistols become vastly more effective weapons. In much the same way the Plasma Cannon does.
