I would trade the bonus to scan duration for a 2% per level reduction in cooldown. I want to keep the precision though, really helps against scouts.
Thoughts from Gallente logis? Don't really want to hear from other logis, honestly.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

Cooldowns keep the YOU HAVE BEEN SCANNED spam lower. Leave as is. Create a fast scanner variant with some kind of penalty like reduced precision or range.
My advice to you, playa...

Thoughts from Gallente logis? Don't really want to hear from other logis, honestly. You didn't ask for it but I'm a MIN logi and I agree with you , it would change the dynamics of the game and make YOUR role more concrete on the battlefield .
And it makes sense .
It would help YOU ( Amarr Logistics ) to actually do your job better then anyone else who would attempt to .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

I would sooner have the scan duration personally. It's not a fast suit so you need all the help you can get to eliminate threats while they're marked. |

Most people aren't going to stack scanners four deep. For them, they can use the "Pulse" scanner variant ; normal duration, +5dB scan precision, -20% scan cooldown (or something like that).

I'm a gallente logi. This logi excells really well at point defense. If you could get two of your friends to protect an area this is a really good logi to have because of the high HP. Offensively speaking a a different story. The problem like you said is that this suit is slow and moving from cover to cover leaves you expose.
My beef with the scanners is the price. Unless I'm in a PC or if my squad members agree to bring out proto heavies I refuse to use a proto-suit and by extension a proto-scanner. The price for the equipment is ridiculous and even with proto scanners it is near impossible to scan a scout so it kind of defeats the purpose of a highers cost scanner. Because of this I narrow my use of scanner to the following 2 models.
#1 A-45 scanner. This scanner is reasonably priced and has a good duration. i think that with the gallente logi bonus it last nearly 15 seconds. It does takes about 20 seconds to cool off but, that is only 5 seconds of downtime. it also has a 100 meter scan which is great when you want to scan an area before invading.
#2 the credon proximity scanner. This has a reduced range of only 60 meters but, still, it is a very good distance for this game since most battle happen withing this 60 meter range anyways. It only last 10 seconds but it has a cool down of about 10 seconds too. With the gallente bonus means that thee is no downtime between when one scan goes away and the second one kicks in. I like it but, i haven;t had the opportunity to use i much because of the cost. When I did tried it I was not able to confirm that it can detect most scout. If this is not the case then again, it kind of useless.
My tactic is not to continually scan. Well, at least not with the A-45. My tactic is to keep my eyes open. When i see an enemy I then point them out to my squad member with my scanner. Pretty much I'm their eyes
The question then is if you can't scan most scouts then what is the point of a higher tier scanner. What i would like then is to have the proxomity scanner at the advance level. Currently you can only get the proto level which again is too damn expensive.
All other scanners seem worhless to me because of the cool down time or other factors that make them unpractical. For example, what good is it to only scan someone for 5 seconds. That is useless especially when the cool off time is so high.
So yeah, think scanner need a revision in the sense that the war machine is always running and new and improve equipment is always being created. That being said, nothing about the current scanner meta is game breaking so I think this item will be put at the bottom of the list. |

Also: Shoot Scout with Scan? Shoot scout with scan, no. Scout shimmy dance between scanner waves like eel. Gonna do a PC Saturday night EST, so probably gonna run Gal logi with 4 scanners. That's when I'm not needed to destroy other vehicles with my tank, or run full Gal scout, or Amarr sentinel, or Gal assault (even though I'd be pretty bad at general infantry in a PC).

So you want to be able to spam the scanner? While I hate scouts, I hate seeing "You've been scanned" way more when I'm already wearing a proto damp on my Assault... |

That being said, nothing about the current scanner meta is game breaking so I think this item will be put at the bottom of the list. Well I'm space rich, so ISK price means nothing to me as far as suits and equipment goes. I currently have a 3 PRO scanner STD suit for testing mostly before Saturday night. Only 2 lows, STD flux and Exile/GEK on it. Still fairly cheap while providing great eWar capabilities.
As for a PRO logi, I have one with 4 of the Duvolle Focused scanners. While playing a match earlier, I used the regular PRO scanner, saw some margin of error, then took out the suit with the Focused, and scanned the scout. I bet he was surprised to get scanned on the second go.
I'll need to run mostly Gal logi all Friday and Saturday so I get used to it for my PC Saturday night.
Nobody gives you an advance for PC so you can stock up on as much PRO gear as you want? That's kinda lame.

Why should I accommodate you just because you don't like being seen? I could see you on passive in my Dragonfly scout.
