how do you defend against? I died several times because someone popped behind me with a shotgun. I personally do not like it. How is that fun? I wonder how long until people get tired of it. |

Whenever you are inside a city, don't sprint much, that way you have your cross hairs ready in case they turn red.
Also, turning back at intervals might help. Opening your eyes helps, too.
Cloaks are easy to spot, imo. I just wished they decloaked when shot, but whatever. |

You're the T-1000 for phucks sake. You're supposed to be stealthy. |

Cloaked enemies are actually surprisingly easy to spot if they're in your line of sight; that is if they're not standing still. Look for blue shimmers, and scan the screen with your crosshairs. If you got shot in the back, then it makes no difference if they were cloaked or not since you would not have seen them anyway.

Exactly. I notice that most people have ZERO situational awareness. Tell me, was this game more fun for you when you could scan everything? Yes? What about for the stealthy scouts? I rest my case.
We are merely taking our revenge on you for your sins.

I love how they said "cloaks are for movement not combat", and then made cloaks that make you light up like a Christmas tree while you sprint, while allowing you to go "GOTCHA" with shotguns exactly like we were all afraid of.

it sure is fun to use lol.
anyway it's an odd toy, it's not suited for aggression, but for luring and defending. if you activate it while your opponent has lost sight of you for even a moment it's incredibly effective, make any attempt to use it offensively like in assaulting a point and it's less then worthless.
quite an interesting thing. |

quite an interesting thing. It's good for hit and runs. You cloak, run up to an enemy, switch to a Shotgun, blast them, then recloak and run away.
It can also be used for an ambush. You lure an enemy, run around a corner and cloak, turn around and wait. As soon as they round the corner, switch, blast, recloak.
And good for those ninja hacks, as well.
I have done all three.

i wouldnt even do that. i just run my scout like i usually would, but if i see a red dot headed my way, then i cloak, wait for him to pass and shotgun them from behind. its never a good tactic if it involves moving around while the cloaking device is active.

Cloaking is a great thing for the scouts. atleast now they can be worth something in the game. almost took ccp 2 years to make a scout useful and now u want to ruin it? nah homie its here to stay. get a better tv, glasses, or sit closer to your tv. they are very easy to spot.

Well, it's not exactly like most of the community has any situational awareness. And it's not easy to spot a cloaked scout in bright light, either.

Yeah, because nobody has passive scanners... Scouts have lower base scan profile in 1.8, so chances are you won't detect them unless you're in their line of sight. Also, its much easier to fit a dampener than a cloak, and a dampener will make you just as stealthy when attacking from behind.

Opening your eyes and don't play with sunglasses on inside you house with the shades drawn would probably help some...
Seriously, its EASY to spot someone who is cloaked while they are moving. Pay attention to your surroundings. If they manage to get behind you well then it isn't exactly the cloaks fault now is it? |

if you don't have cloak you should probably be in a tight squad or using transports, sht just got real, running on foot alone is no longer feasible

Your post which I quoted said nothing about Scouts. It said that cloaked enemies would be invisible, and there's plenty of reason to believe a cloaked enemy might NOT be hidden if the cloak was off.
You're also assuming that the person getting snuck up on isn't also a Scout with Precision Enhancers. |

I am having tons of fun with the cloak, but I will admit that it is OP in it's current state.
The cloak needs to have some serious drawbacks, like instead of -25% scan profile it should be +25% scan profile or something.
Honestly it needs a hard counter, something it (like tanks) currently does not have.
While there is no better place to be wealthy than the Gallente Federation, there is no hell worse for the poor either.
