I don't see why you'd say that.
Many of New Edens racial groups place heavy significant in both lore and culture of weapons like swords, staves, or hunting knives, even used ceremonially by commanders such weapon appear on the battlefield. Certainly they should not be common, or all that effective.....but denying their presence arbitrarily ...... that's a silly idea too.

Laser sword, rail sword, explosive sword, and as someone else mentioned the dildo.
