Recently due to unforeseen circumstances, I have had to change provider to Satellite internet. As a result, my ability to play dust514 with a missile turret dropship has significantly worsened. With an average of 720 ms, after firing the missile turret it takes approx 3-4 seconds for the missile to touch ground. taking into account trying to predict movement of enemy units and how erratically they can move, i propose a system designed (only) for high latency players.
If latency can be confirmed to stand at say 750ms, then the flight speed of projectiles is adjusted to compensate so that the time between firing and the projectile actually reaching the target is normalized. so for example, if i shoot one missile, the game actually fires the missile about a second later and the missiles flight time is reduced by 1 second to compensate.
Of course this could in principal be severely exploited, so care would be needed to implement such an idea. But i believe there are many people in my position that want to play FPS games and cant cause of their crappy internet.
to tweak the latency you currently hold the server would send a simple ping to your ps3 when you log into the dust client, and would calibrate your latency in some way. It would then tweak a few in game numbers and hopefully the whole system would work in harmony.

Fact: connections with latencies above 250ms are not meant for real-time online gaming. There is nothing CCP can do to make satellite internet not suck. I suggest you try something turn-based. |

whit? you clearly dont have satellite internet if your game plays fine.
and what the hell is all this about nyain san? just because we have played this game longer, and can stomp everybody in a 1v1, that all of a sudden gives you the right to say we're lag switchers? :P half of nyain doesnt even speak english so we have major language barriers, most of nyain doesnt think much of itself in terms of performance, and where is the point in lag switching ... nobody likes a laggy game?
