A lot of people think that the best fits to run are different from month to month. I don't think they are correct. Sure, some things come and go in the endless nerf-buff cycle. But Scrambler Rifles have been the fit of the month every month since the beginning, and I don't see that changing very much in Uprising 1.8. If we do actually get a Respec, I'm going straight back into Amarr assault suits, and I recommend you all do the same.

The SCR/Amarr ASSAULT being FOTM is just a myth created by forum members butthurtz by SCR Rifles.
I started using this combo since the SCR was released. And i have seen a lot of other stuff that were used in mayor numbers (like Gal logis for example) than the SCR/Amarr combo.
BTW.If the Amarr Assault Looses its Heat Sink Bonus, you might want to consider using another Assault suit, since the Heat sink bonus is the only real reason to play it....

Really? Scrambler Rifle has been the fit of the month since it came out?
Do you not remember the horrible era of Mass Drivers? The Forge Guns 'rain' of terror? (See what I did there...) When all you saw in the kill feed was a Duvolle or a Gek?
Scrambler Rifles have forever been harder to use (especially without the Amarr Assault suit bonus) thus driving people away from them. These days I see more Rail and Combat Rifles than anything.

I honestly don't understand why more people don't run Scramble Rifles, because they're really good. Sure, half my deaths since 1.7 have been at the hands of Kalaakiota Rail Rifles, but that doesn't mean it's the best gun. It only means there are more people using it. Also, to hit on Checkmate's point, it's true that the heat reduction bonus of the Amarr assault suits is awesome and I'll be sad to see it go, but the scrambler rifles will still be the best gun, and the Amarr assault looks like the only suit that will provide some ScR bonuses. |

You must be talking about pre-auto aim, because post-auto aim the gun is ****. Pro Hic was the only team that I saw that ran a lot of mass drivers. I think you are confusing a nonexistent "Era of the Mass Driver" with "Flaylock/contact spam". That was a thing. It as broken because time to kill was too low... and now it is even lower. |

If everything fell into cycles naturally (i.e. scramblers are hot this week, but people start armor tanking to get around it, and then Rails/CRs are the next week) it would be perfectly acceptable and even charming as players mimic the fittings and weapons that they saw a player perform well with.
That is not what is going on in Dust right now (or possibly for the foreseeable future). We have instead some unbalanced weapons and some unbalanced armor/shield mechanics.
Flavor of the Month is usually based on speculation/mimicry and usually lasts a brief amount of time before moving on to something else when the masses realize they don't have an 'easy mode' weapon. Say about a month.
So, by January we should have seen Rail Rifle use down to a few who actually legitimately liked it.

I get picked off by the occasional ScR one- or two-shot, but it's hardly anything regular, so I'm guessing the OP is trolling.
In any case, I agree the scrambler rifle can be uber, but it has one of the steepest learning curves of all the weapons in the game. It's definitely very hit-or-miss how I'll do when I (rarely) take one out.
I haven't used the RR or the CR (I don't find the addition of new weapons a compelling enough reason to move away from shotguns or sniper rifles), but I would guess that they're so popular because their mechanics are very similar to the AR, which was formerly the weapon of choice for many players.

I use the scrambler rifle at lv. 3 operations and I user caldari suits. I use it 50% of the time depending on the situation. But I always pull it out against tanked protos. Because I just need a charged shot and 3 regulars to kill a tanked proto in under 3 seconds then it overheats. And if you ask me that's more than good enough for me. |
