Not really going to do it to stomp on the new berrys, but I always find I get the best feel for a weapon, or suit when using it on a new clone with no SP.
I will likely make an alt for each of the new scout suits, and also skill them into some of the sidearms and have a ball and see what "feels right"
Will try caldari scout with MAG SMG + bolt pistol
Galente scout with AR + Ion pistol
Minmatar scout with Remotes + knives
And Amarr scout with LR + scram pistol
May try out cloaks to if SP and fitting costs allow.
Oh and likely try out a malita caldari heavy.
Anyone else going to test out some new stuff with a fresh newberry clone? |

No because I will go proto caldari sentinal and scout with proto cloak day one.
Hopefully the prices arent absurd, and proto prices go down a litte, 57k or 47k for a extra slot is stupid.

If you stomp then you are doing nothing but hurting the playerbase. I honestly don't like being in the Academy when using a new character, (because knowledge is power) but unfortunately there isn't an option too skip it.

I always feel bad having to do the Academy when starting a new clone. Feels wrong going 49/3 using only MLT Scrambler Pistols against a horde clueless blueberries. I just try to get through it as fast as I can, usually only takes one or two matches.

Well I called it stomp because of just that reason, knoledge is power, but fortunatly with the messed up Academy WP limit I will be out of it in a match or two |

I keep a few alts rolling passive SP just for these testing purposes, but they're all out of Academy.
I'll keep them all racially correct in case I ever feel like changing things up.

I find you're out of the Academy before you have the ISK to even buy the skillbooks for whatever gear you want to try. Then you're off to the protostomp with a skill-less character. They really need to make militia versions of everything of all the new gear.

As I have no issue with spending SP on things I may not use 100% of the time, I will do it on my main.

Based on what I heard, I'll get to run around in militia suit variants before I spend any SP. So I'll skill into things on my main accounts after I get acquainted with the militia versions.. |

As I said having no skills what so ever is the real test, all my core skills, and proto armor and shield makes a diferance on how a suit works and feels.

There's no point in going into academy to test gear. It won't be a proper baseline for the experiment as many in the academy are still learning the fundamental controls.
Besides (its been a while but from what I can remember) they're so woefully terrible the last time I went through academy I went something like 65/3 with a militia heavy and standard HMG - when it was at its most useless.
my team did literally nothing so I capped the point and I had to take on all the reds single-handedly
(my 3 deaths? - I ran out of bullets)

I have a tank alt and a heavy alt and thats it. Will need more, tho most will be deleted after a week of testing, to many alts is a hassle |

I have at least 1 point in every gun. Laser, MD, AR, RR, etc. If I like it, I'll keep skilling into it.
If you stomp new players, you won't be able to tell if it's useful against real players. |

A guy who used to squad with me would make Battle Academy ALTs to build up ISK that he then would then transfer to his Main. He had a very aggressive play style that got kills but ate up good suits.
If I try out BA it will be for the game experience.

I see any of you on my team in FW, I am team killing you - oh wait, you don't play FW you run around in Ambush padding your KDR while skipping school. good day.

Academy should be teaching things like how to hack an objective.... whats a nanohive... how to use it... whats a supply depot do... Whats an Uplink.. The differences between the suit races... How to use Dust's controls and aim... How suit fittings and skills work.. Maybe someone with a voice over instead of a wall of TXT...
Academy now is a game mode that should exist as a Militia Item only mode. ANd Militia Items not register player skills.
Until we take the new player coming into DUST and give them the basics of information and make the pursuit of early knowledge boring for a vet we know it's starting to work.
Until then it's gonna be like "Here is This Nice New game" then a few matches later kick them out to This |

ROFL actualy if you read past the thread title you would know that this is actualy a discution about making alts and testing new suits, and seriously if you arnt out of the academy after 1 match your doing it wrong. Also I see more nubs in FW than anywhere else. Your faild white knighting really makes my day tho. |
