hey CCP, any plans to screen enemy tank positions a-la some sort of 'fog of war' mechanic on the pause screen map? because right now as far as I can tell they're always visible, even when it's obvious that no ally has a current line of sight to spot them. I'm certainly not complaining, it's gotten me mad tank kills and I basically never get flanked anymore but it seems a bit unintended sometimes.
even if there is some sort of timer on their visibility (aka if they break line of sight for x seconds they disappear from the map until spotted again), it's way too long of a timer, enemy tanks are essentially always visible on the pause-screen map regardless of where they are which means I can basically always plan a perfect route for railtank sniping or jihad jeeping |

Tactic, it takes you out of the battlefield but leaves you open to be shot up. It is not always easy to see those HAVs on the map screen but gives mercs an advantage if use wisely. I say keep it.

I hope it's intended.
It reminds of the old Ghost Recon map screens. Where you'd be getting a live feed from a surveillance drone in the sky. It makes a lot of sense in the EvE universe to have something like that.
Tactically, it's wonderful. And I feel it's not an exploit, because everyone has access to it. If you know what you're looking for you can spot the enemy infantry on the map as well vehicles.
I wouldn't be surprised to see future updates to the game adding roles and features that push a squad member to be on the live map view for longer periods of time. Dictating to the team, where the enemy is coming from could take some skill, especially if what you are looking for is not easily visible.

personally I love it, it just seems a little all-encompassing, like, you could go all the way back into your redline, hide from everyone for several minutes, and still be on the map.
dear CCP actually just keep it the way it is and add blops already bruv |

When I'm in a 3+tank on each side match we get one person to point out enemy tanks to the rest of the squad with the map. It's a valid strategy that removes one player from the fight to benefit his team. |

I am training intelligence officers whose job is to sit back with a sniper rifle and tell us when, where, and what type of armor is being called in. They call out the hp of shields and armor, as well as turret quality and type. It is this soldiers job to track tanks for our tankers via the tactical map. They can see where forge rounds are coming from and assist with troop strengths and enemy movements. If any corps are looking for reliable Intel these mercenaries can be ready in weeks. It is a good trade for new players. You will probably have to supplement their income as it is currently not isk efficient.
On a side note our tankers also receive this training and it is a prerequisite for our squad leaders. |

It makes sense to be able to see stuff on the map like that. You've got two war barges duking it out...and neither of them would have cameras watching the ground?
You can actually see blobs of infantry if you look really closely, or you used to be able to anyway. They're little black specks that move around. Being able to see weapons fire on the map is also a nice / useful touch. |

I agree with the OP, it seems a bit backwards that this information is available. |

The map screen is a live camera from the war barge. The only way to hide from direct visual observation is to get out of the line of sight.
