The Caldari are deep rooted enemies with the Gallente While the Minmatar have deep hatred with the Amarr It shouldn't be versus any faction because Minmatar and Gallente are allied together while Caldari and Amarr allies as well. The Gallente can help the Minmatar and vice versa and the same can be applied to the relationship with the Caldari and Amarr. The Amarr once enslaved the Minmatar - the Amarr are trying to "teach them" about their faith by assimilating them, while the Minmatar are fighting to free those still enslaved. The Caldari is run by corporations who the Gallente ran afoul of when space travel was rediscovered, causing a generational war of deomocratic government vs one ruled exclusively by corporations trying to make a buck without giving rights to the individual. The similarity between between the Amarr's method's and those of the Caldari make them allies, whereas the similarity in fighting slavery and fighting for democracy have brought the Gallente and Minmater together as allies. Of course you can flavor these in favor of one faction or the other ("spin doctor"), but the effects are still the same. What will be your legacy? Will you rise, or will you fall?

Otherwise, you'd have ppl ganging up too much. However, in EVE You get secondary standing for the friendly faction. I guess they'll work that into DUST. That way you could fight for Amarr and still earn some Cal standing too. Do your part. Join the revolution. Sabotage FW. Help this game burn! BURN DUST 2014

First where we came from: http://www.eveonline.com/creations/videos/eve-online-origins/ After the people re-took to the stars, conflict became inevitable. The Amarr race was first and encountered the Minmatar race before they were advanced enough to colonize space on their own and enslaved the seven tribes of the Minmatar: http://community.eveonline.com/backstory/chronicles/the-day-of-darkness/?_ga=1.251569670.1640929137.1365175653 However later on the Minmatar rebelled and became their own free Republic: http://community.eveonline.com/backstory/chronicles/khuumak/?_ga=1.55406251.1640929137.1365175653 Soon after the Gallente Federation established itself in space based on democracy and personal freedoms: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Gallente_Federation However the Caldari State was formed from those who believed in patriotism, hard work, and capitalism and mega-corporations. This state is run by a corporate dictatorship: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Caldari Due to their breaking away from the Gallente and the Gallente not wanting to leave them be, there has been a lot of annimosity and waring between the Caldari and the Gallente.
