This works in a similar way to the repair tool however instead of repairing armor it resupplies a vehicles ammo
This would add another Logistics support role, we all know their are dedicated Tank squads out their but we also know that alot of Tankers use them as solo slaying tools and I've always been a firm believer that Tanks should have just as much dependance on someone supporting them as infantry do ...
With the changes in 1.7 vehicles will have to travel to a supply depot to resupply which can take them out of action .. just as infantry would have to do the same if they ran out of ammo and didn't have any nanohives around and I feel that vehicle users should be able to negate this by having the option of support to resupply them without having to go to a supply depot
The reason I prefer an infantry tool over a vehicle module is to try and encourage the idea of vehicle users + infantry working together and not just in slaying their enemies (infantry taking out AVers trying to destroy the tank) but infantry being able to support vehicle users in more ways than just 1. and give enemy infantry a chance to cut the supply lines by killing the player resupplying ...
I'm not against vehicles having modules to resupply ammo after all we currently have vehicle repair modules and infantry equipment capable of repairing vehicle armor it's just that I'd like to encourage more of my fellow Logi's to support their teams and 1.7 is going to give the possibility of a new type of support role I'd like to call 'The Mechanic' who's main focus is to keep that vehicle repped up, resupplied with ammo and amongst the thick of the action for longer
This could also encourage dropship users to actually use dropships more as transport rather than aerial slayers .. if an assault dropship runs out of ammo but has a squad member in the vehicle that can resupply ammo and rep the vehicle the dropship user can land .. let the infantry get out and resupply and repair the dropship and then jump back in .. for dropship users it would be alot easier than having to fly back to a supply depot and be within range to get restocked and would hopefully encourage the dropship users to pick infantry up and take them to the frontlines etc etc
In conclusion this would alleviate any potential problem of supply depots being destroyed and vehicle users being unable to resupply their ammo at all ... if the supply depots get destroyed you'd better have a Mechanic on your team to take over the resupplying reigns .. A HAV without ammo is just a tin can death trap
Please tell me your thoughts on this piece of equipment and lets have a proper general discussion
TL;DR .. sorry but just giving info on the idea without why it should be added and the effect it will have on the battlefield isn't particularly constructive so forgive me for the lengthy post
PS I'm A Logi bro not a tanker so this isn't a vehicle user asking for a way around having to go to a supply depot to restock .. it's a logi wanting to add to the potential support roles of a true logi
No, this is broken for the exact situation that you pointed out with the dropship. If you allow a "tool" that resupplies the tank, then what stops a tank driver from fitting that tool on their suit? Now instead of the cooperative "teamplay" concept you were hoping for, you instead get a one-man-army stomper again.
Also as already implemented by game mechanics, vehicles like tanks and dropships are NOT meant to "hang out" at the front. They roll in and hit stuff with module active, then they pull back when modules are on cooldown. This provides a natural ebb and flow of things. This is also when the tank would be looking for a supply depot to rearm as well. Stop trying to make tanks completely self-sufficient again. They are not supposed to be and that is part of the reason for ammo being added to them.
I don't mind the idea of another vehicle "a supply depot kinda vehicle" being added as it become a similar target as the tank is. But not the infantry guy as it makes the tank or dropship able to resupply itself.
