I'm typing on a phone so I can't do an essay. But after talking to many top tier players there is a general agreement that time to kill has become to fast. None of us want to play another twitch shooter and this patch has pushed myself and probably others into unfun and log off rather EvE style rage quit.
I fear if somthing is not done it will futher damage the fragile playerbase as gungame has become very unfun which compound by the awful grind sp event.

All I know its being monitored at the moment, this is something best left to number generation to produce affirmative details over.

ok i understand that but please be aware a lot of people are very unhappy with this and i cant be the only one who has stopped playing until this is fixed

I am also very unhappy with this. Writing an essay atm.
It may not be particularly effective, but it's probably going to be about this size.
This is by far my greatest concern about Dust atm. It's wonderful, absolutely wonderful, to see the hit detection fixed and working so well but it's exposed so many problems in weapon balance - they've been balanced for poor hit detection and it's showing now.

I also have heard hundreds of people complaining about this. It really does need to be fixed. Another huge issue that is going on is the lack of Devs monitoring the forums. One reply out of 700 threads is not efficient what so ever.
Whats the difference between COD and dust? Nothing anymore. |

CPM had time to fully express how unhappy we and you guys are with the shorter TTKs.
The development team would like to monitor a bit further to help measure what step would be regarded best in resolving the issue. There are plans for correction now but will not deploy until CCP would be comfortable with the results.

Thanks for the response, Wolf.
The TTK is frustrating for veteran players but the new guys (6mil SP and below) that we've run through training have all commented on it as well. My impression is that the problem is more acute for less experienced players and a significant danger to player retention. |

Well I give CCP props for not acting in immediate knee jerk off the bat and are going about this a bit methodical. I just hope the turn around time on the issue is like short though and not 1.7 wait.

I would respectfully disagree. :) While I encourage the designers to investigate the kill counts and such for any possible changes, with large maps and long walk times lowered TTK may not translate into more deaths per match.
And frankly, I don't give a crap what the numbers say in this case. I've encouraged Wolfman to personally sit down and playtest this extensively (and he said he would) because what's critical here is the subjective experience everyone has when playing the game.
Right now, to me, the game is much less fun as a result of the nuked TTK. I mean its a great problem to have, hit detection is progressing wonderfully and its amazingly fun to be the shooter, but we're all dying too fast in the end. Dust players desire a higher TTK and a tactical game, they've made this clear time and time again, and its important to keep the TTK creep under control.
All that to say, while investigating data is an important part of review, the developers need to listen to community feedback and respond to the problem here regardless of whether the data indicates anything changed. |

for what its worth just knowing that CCP are going to fix will get me back playing again (more out of liking to play with powerrangers lol)
but it would be worth CCP doing a dirty fix now and then using 1.7 to throw in the full weapon balance pass as they introducing new guns then anyway. also thank you to CPM i was very sceptical about you guys but for once you proved you lessened and acted

sadly my understanding of the CPM is communicate the will of the community not your own preference and has been made clear in a number of treads and not just my own on the issue. a lot more people enjoyed the longer strafing engagements, and longer draw out battles all together.
one of themes i have noticed players hint at, is the predator, pray chasing that used to happen, where a player would dash away from someone leading to high tension chases where a prey hoped to god he got to black to squad mates or at least out of danger, and predator got a kick out of chasing poor newberrys down and planting that final bullet.
that sadly does not happen anymore because you drop in under a second.
i put some thought into what i would think good ttk would be.
apparently the average human reaction time is 215 milliseconds. source
as a result i feel that 250 should be roughly how long it takes to kill someone if you get a drop on them. this means that assaults and heavys will either need back up or confident in their own skills that they can get the drop on the player.
while allowing the scout classes to use their instant kill shotguns and knives as rewards for getting the drop. fully aware people might disagree but this length allows people to really mix up their modules and let the differents suits strengths shine.

True but its not the epidemic it was where 1 fairy in the open could outgun 6 guys behind cover.
Its now more like 1 vs 1 may the best dancer win and a third dance partner and well... we all know what happens.
Anyways another reason why I want to see the time to kill extended a bit is to get the game a bit more diverse because right now if this keeps up people are going to go for weapons with a high 'damage compression' as early as possible so weapons similar to oh say the laser rifle, breach weapons, or charge sniper rifle would consistently be overshadowed by the full automatics which at this moment has the best damage compression as early as possible.
Anyways CCP is still in monitoring mode and they want to be careful on the nerfs hopefully there will be enough data this week to start planning on doing something. Whatever is planned does not seem to be going to be a blanket solution though so that's all I can say on it for now.
Also shotguns are on similar parity to use of a remote explosive, if you get a drop on someone and point blank the results are similar. the main difference? shotgun has more range (for less damage) and fires much faster than a remote explosive. For normal engagement ranges the shotguns feel fine as it takes 3-5 blasts to kill someone at those ranges outside of point blank.

Statistics aside, if you dont know how changes 'really' affect the players you game can drift away from the vision.

There has been a new trend showing up people are tanking up. This is both a good and bad trend. The bad trend is that people are gravitating towards suits with high health or high amounts of HP instead while retaining to the weapons. I seriously hope that heavy + light weapon does not becomes a major thing as large as the killer bee complex back a few months ago.
