A Caldari scout ship, on a mission to discover new unclaimed territory, came across an undiscovered, "dark" planet. After an active scan, an error was received stating unidentified lifeforms were located on the surface, and throughout vast, deep tunnelling systems. Before getting a closer look, the Pilots ship light up in a bloody red fusion of warning lights and error reports. "warning! hostile ordnance locked onto ship". The pilot made a hasty retreat to evade the threat. He reported his findings to his commander, and an investigation was launched into the new, hostile subspecies. After further investigation, The home planet of this new lifeform was found to hold one of the largest ore reserves in the star system.
War is upon us.. War is upon "them"..
__________________________________________________________
The idea is that, in such a vast universe, alien life must exist on some planet somewhere. The planet will be unique to Dust. The resources located on the planet could be directly linked to EVE based on DUSTs performance against the alien lifeforms, making it seem much more interesting to the EVE community. This will make us "dust bunnies" more valuable to the "space nerds". It could also effect Dust in that once the aliens are eradicated, the planet is open to PC, but I much prefer the idea of destroying aliens all day.
The planet itself could hold new plant life, different monsters, wildlife, new terrain such as underground tunnels and oceans. These oceans could in the future be the start of amphibious vehicles. The aliens would not use weaponry like we do. The battles would be more in the style of Starship troopers. By doing PvE, many ideas that would be unfair or unsutable in PvP, can easily be implemented. such as the incredibly overpowered idea of Carpet bombing air support vehicles!
(shown here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CqOTqnguEM
the battles would cost ISK, and would have ISK rewards. All current dust gear will be effective in these battles, but some gear will be more effective than others depending on the battle. for example, certain grenades such as the flux grenade effect certain creatures more than others, such as aliens with a shield-like skeleton.
the battles will either be to defend structures already built, and to assault areas for capture and construction. some vehicles will be impossible to use based on the battle, such as airborne aliens will cause dropships to be torn apart in seconds. and large crushing aliens will destroy tanks. LAVs will not be effected, but will be largely useless for small compound-based defence battles.
The battle will go something... like this .... (skip to 0:20) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPE00A6b9TY
I look forward to ideas, suggestions!

Unfortunately, New Eden is an isolated star cluster.
What this means is, there are ~5500 stars that were close enough to each other that travel between them to build stargates was possible, and now they are nearly all connected with one another through the stargate network. The distance to the nearest stars OUTSIDE the cluster, however, is far too large to ever traverse, save for the use of wormholes.
That's how humanity got to New Eden in the first place. They mastered stargate techology and spread out across their own stellar neighborhood, but eventually the distances became too great and they couldn't expand any further. Then they found 'Eve' (the first wormhole) and through it discovered New Eden.
Every planet in New Eden has been thoroughly explored. There is no intelligent alien life (though there is plenty of alien animal life)

Is Jovian space connected through a wormhole? If it is then the alien race could travel through one and make it stable. Which is one of the reasons why I love Sci-Fi, anything can happen

There are no sentient 'aliens' in the eve universe.
Most life in the eve cluster are eveolved from Terran stock, or are indigenious lower forms.
Thats not to say there won't be dangerious animals out there. So yeah, sweet idea. |

Considering that the Amarr murdered 10s of millions of sleepers to create the Templar generation. Knowing that the sleepers had been warned for millenia that this would happen, warned by an AI known as 'the other.' And throwing in that 'the other' is fully lodged within the skull of the empress.
I think our baddies are already decided.

exactly, in the cluster. thats why life could have been brought to our system from another by a meteor or such |

Seriously though,
EvE is based around space ships so they don't get into the knitty gritty details of what are going on, on these moons and outer planets.
Is it that hard to accept that another life form may be present in space? Does it need to be intelligent? not necessarily. but it could be hostile. Carnivorous bug infestation.
Think outside the box, mabye something like this will draw in more players and keep the story line fresh.
Honestly, if the factions have been fighting for this long, realistically, you could expect one of them to be wiped out by now. |

Oh believe me, just because the game is about internet spaceships doesn't mean the world isn't fleshed out.
EVE has just as much lore and story behind it as any of your favourite sci-fi franchise (star wars, star trek, warhammer 40k, etc)
Also some extra info for people: The Jovians are likely all dead, and from what we know the Sansha have taken up residency in their home space.
It's unlikely the sleepers would attack anyone, considering the state we found them in. They all but abandoned the physical world to exist entirely in their virtual one. We have also stopped harvesting implants from them.
We're already going to have rogue drones for PVE, which are already far more menacing than any tyrranid-wannabe space bug. Down the line we'll also likely get Sansha to fight against in incursion-based DUST events. |
