This is a really good idea! It would be kinda fun if corps would have to pay a rental fee if they want to do this (unless later on in the future when corps can own planets, they'll use only the planet at their disposal). Also, there should be sort of "goodies" or "toys" available, so a custom corp match would have same tank skirmishes, cool load outs, and training vehicles. This could make corps not only a fighting force, but also a "gladiator fighting ground" or "racing tournaments" for Eve and Dust players to place bets on (a fun little thing for Dust and Eve players to do when they're bored), an academy for new Dusters to learn how to fly that ghastly drop ship or that LAV, or when corporations can create items, for them to introduce them and display them through shooting galleries and test fights, where that slightly seasoned but still fresh Duster can taste that savory proto suit, and a chance for that seasoned player to say "Do commando suits still suck?".
This could bring revenue for corporations, for example:
"Welcome to Dropship Academy. Ever wanted to help your fellow mercs' with air superiority but you just don't know how to let those wings soar? Attend a class of Dropship Acadamy and we'll show you how! Dropships provided! Fees range from 100,000 isk for a beginner lesson, to 200,000 for more advanced!"
Or....
"You know what it's like to be a Dust soldier, you've died a thousand times, but killed a thousand more mercenaries too. You also know that you're not the only one. So what's the difference between you and the other soldiers? Doesn't hurt to see that difference. FROM THE ONE'S THAT BROUGHT YOU "2014'S HARDCORE LAV RACE" AND "THE MINJA TOURNAMENTS", COMES "2014'S ALL OUT FIGHT NIGHT". TEST. YOU'RE. MIGHT. Entry fees 40,000 isk each, brought to you by Colosseum Entertainment".

Whadya think? nice, you might wanna join the thunderdome. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=107598&find=unread
Oh I have seen some gameplay! :) I can only play on the weekends, but when I can, I'm pretty devoted. I usually play seriously, but when I get some extra fun time, I'll play around there. Thunderdome is really what inspired me to do the gladiator combat. There should be this since it will make a better connection between Eve and Dust. Dust players will now not only be merceneries but "esports" players, or a sort of tag line "Dust Games". Where Dust soldiers can compete in gladiator games, capture the flag, free for all, etc, games. Eve and Dust players can watch and place bets, support and advertise players and get a portion of their check, and advertise for them.
This will still make Eve players think that Dust is just "a petty source of entertainment", but none the less strengthen the connection, and improve the "Dust" experience to Dusters. Later on Dust players could be more useful for setting up mines, securing areas, cleaning up spaces, and maybe even fly with Eve players and be body guard for them! What do you guys think? |

But lets take it one step at a time and see if this threads idea can be implemented first, we need districts to mean something when owned and the best part about it is there are people like you who will use the tool creatively!
Give this to us CCP i dont think it'd be too much of a hassle to implement
Yep, but first, BABY STEPS! Just a headsup and a message that you guys might have on the back burner, but I'd like to emphasize to keep whining to a minimum. I know this is all great stuff, and I am really looking forward to this game! I want to see it thrive with Eve, I want to see Eve thrive with it! If Dust does good, so does Eve, Eve Valkyrie, and the other fun time's a comin'! So in order to do good....like I said- baby steps. We need to start small, custom map skirmishes that have no impact on isk, sp, aurom, but you can only use certain loadouts, basic loadouts or "fake" gear. |
