Well, I have several friends that refuse to play and some have even stated they aren't going to even try for a year. That is their estimate on the time CCP/Shanghai will require to get the game to a level they are interested in. As in approaching what Chromosome was and Uprising is definitely not.
Others are surprised about the weird oscillations of intent from CCP/Shanghai. I have nothing to help them resolve that as I feel the same way. The Flaylock pistol was a disaster, unless one spent the SP on it. Squads of Flaylockers roamed and were a detriment to the game. Yep, that is what happened. Now those selfsame Flaylockers have my sympathy, seriously, because their hard earned SP is now retroactively wasted on the device that has just received the latest Wang Nerf Hammer of Doom.
Some commented on the monthly (-ish) patch schedule as they felt most of the updates should have been fixed earlier or in weekly bug fixes. I informed them that this was much better because at least something was getting fixed versus the situation previously.
If I sound like I am complaining than you have yet to read my other posts.
Some long range plans, that stick, need to be published by CCP/Shanghai. Hopefully with some teeth added to the appropriate body parts from CCP, the real one.
I am staying around but capping out is no longer important. I still have no real idea on what is happening with the Pilot drop suits nor do we have any indication when the rest, or even some, of the full racial drop suit types will appear. Spending SP while being a tanker knowing that the developer version of the Pilot Drop Suit will serious change the lay of the land is troubling. Better to not spend any, nor AUR, until the situation is revealed. The Dev version would give those with the Suit massive advantages.
Chromosome was a 7.5/10 and 1.3 is creeping back towards 6/10, up from 5/10. Still it is hard to recommend when AUR items are priced, released, doubled in price the next day and Wang Hammered to ineffectiveness the next week. No refunds for AUR items means the item is effectively 1/4 of what was purchased. Taking care of the players is important but not making those that buy AUR feel ripped off is equally important. They are the ones paying for the game.
I suggest that the CPM get more information earlier, although I have no idea how much is currently happening. What I would hope is that some of these mistakes might be flagged as a possible problem before they are deployed. The current system of having the Devs playtest and love the result is ... not working. The players are being reacted too only after much negative reactions are displayed.
Let's get back to a positive direction. I would like to tell my friends to come and play DUST with me. Not that I have that many friends but there are significantly fewer of them playing DUST of late.
And, even to CCP/Shanghai, Good Luck. |

This is seriously the only game that I play that I actively tell friends to not waste their time on. |

Acknowledge to them that the core FPS mechanics of the game still suck, that things still feel clunky, that they will still have to fight the controls to accomplish what they want in-game and that sometimes the controls will defeat them.
But say also that CCP may have recently gotten the message, that there are big changes happening in Shanghai, and that with the quick-release development cycle CCP has adopted we should be able to tell fairly quickly if a genuine effort to address core issues is being made - and whether those efforts are successful.
The biggest change since the last time they played the game? I'd say it's the ability to trade ISK between mercs. Second biggest change i'm not too sure about, maybe murder taxis? |

Well.. apparently they getting ready for bigger updates starting from 1.4, and getting better with each new update... Of course, remember that we was promise that for the Official Release, and that ended up being just another Beta Release.
We have been going backwards since Uprising... it will be nice to see some big steeps forwards. |

I would say Kal, don't bring your friends to play Dust ... yet. If they see the product as it is, they won't ever come back.
Let's wait and see if the hardcore players, who are still playing can bring the game through this period and onto the PS4. If those hardcore gamers aren't paying enough money to sustain Dust - it won't get anywhere fast enough (content and FPS standard wise) in the short term, to be profitable and realise the long term ambition of CCP. |

Let CCP Iceland develop Dust and leave CCP Shanghai in the dust.... CCP Iceland regularly update EVE and they know how to do it
Despite a few hiccups by CCP Iceland, I trust them over Shanghai! |
