OK so, i'm playing (or trying to at least) a frontline/shock troop role, i'm currently running a Minmatar Assault M-1 Was using the GEK-38, just now switched to an AR (can't remember the name) with 51 dmg over the GEKs 30 something, but a rof of 400 to the GEKs 700 something I think A Militia SMG The basic grenades Militia light dmg mod Militia shield ext Militia shield rchrg Basic armor plates
I've allocated my SP to-
1-Dropsuit Command 3-Minmatar Medium Dropsuit 1-Minmatar Assault Dropsuit
2-Dropsuit Upgrades 1-Dropsuit Armor Upgrades 1-Armor Plating 2-Dropsuit Core Upgrades 1-Dropsuit Electronics 1-Dropsuit Engineering
3-Weaponry 2-Light Weapons Operation 3-Assault Rifle Operation 2-Assault Rifle Ammo Capacity 2-Assault Rifle Sharpshooter
I've tried to be cautious with my selections so far, but have kinda made some impulse purchases. I went with DS electronics/engineering early to validate my fitting due to PG/CPU limitations, not sure I should have done that, and I upgraded armor before fully understanding it, and wasn't able to use it till just today when I got the Minmatar Assault M-1. I've had some slight regrets specing into the AR so heavily so early. It's what I wanna mainly use, but I didn't notice to much general difference in my ARs performance from a before and after standpoint. I speced into armor kinda early on also cause I was just getting dropped left and right, but didn't realize the first Minmatar suit didn't have a Low Slot or whatever.
In general I feel ok about my choices so far, even though looking at it on paper now I feel maybe I've been spreading myself to thin. Here's my questions. I'm wanting to invest in shields and armor, and looking at the next Min. Suit at level 3, i'd have 5 high slots for shields/dmg mods, and 2 low slots for an armor plate and the movment speed enhancer dealy (the name escapes me atm) to counter the armor movment penalty. Is that even worth it? I was figuring the Min. assault suits are the fastest (right?) so that right there should counter the armor movement penalty, at least some, then the movement speed enhancer would put me back above average speed? Also, in trying to increase my damage output, should I look to mods or more AR skill ups at this point? My overriding goal is close to if not maxed AR, Grenades, SMG, then whatever the best route for protection is, be it Armor/Shield mix or just straight Shields, and whatever upgrades it takes to run all that on a good Min. Assault platform. Damn, there was something else but I forgot. Anyway, definitely hoping for some tips/feedback, thanks in advance.
P.S. I know I got **** equipment and my knowledge of high end equipment is pretty weak, hope I haven't dug myself into a hole. |

Just a quick glance over what you have here and my two cents...
Grenades...you need to up the power of your nades. Basic just won't cut it as you move forward in New Eden. It's like throwing confetti at a charging rhino.
And I take it you have a Duvolle now? Geks are cheaper and still effective as the Duvolles.
Also make a farm fit. A fit that's cheap but effective so you can farm SP and money with. For instance I run militia suits with locus nades and a Gek. It's good training and saves money.
I'm pretty sure others will add some more |

I got the Breach AR. My problem with the GEK is i'm still getting a feel for the controls, and while I can get a pretty good first burst in, once people start moving and hopping my aim gets pretty crappy, so i'm taking the dmg over rof for a spin and seeing how it goes. But yea, I've noticed a lot of people using the GEK, once I get some better dmg mods i'll check it out again. Good to know nades are worth it. I got better aim with them then my AR lol. |

Once people start moving and hopping, I go from aiming down sights to hip fire action. Easier to target with. |

Keep the GEK, you see many people using this because it's the best advanced AR and one of the best weapons in game. Breach AR blows, don't waste your ISK here. Overall skills are looking good and nothing's wasted so far. But you're using a Minmatar Assault. I say it's time to start working on your sidearm to get the advantage of the assault suit bonus. I recommend the flaylock or the SMG.
Next, Minmatar assault is a shield tanker and I give you props for choosing this suit since it's one of the best in game. Start leveling up to get shield extenders. Forget about armor for now and just dump all your SP into shield extension. At proto level you should be able to equip 5 extenders which will give you around 500 shield HP. For the low slots I recommend you equip shield regulators and CPU upgrades as needed. The shield regulators decrease the time shields start to regen.
Continue to level up your suit as well. When you start to to get better modules you'll notice it'll be difficult to equip them in your suit. This means time to upgrade and the advanced suit has more CPU/PG so that you can equip better things. You should also keep a budget fit so that you gain profit from matches. I recommend anything below 30k ISK, the standard Minmatar with the GEK and militia modules.
