For the longest time in dust small turrets have had an extremely high DPS, but subpar hit detection. Then at the start of uprising they had their proficencies removed and skill bonuses cut by 2/3. They gained marginally better hit detection, but were still crippled by their inability to reliably connect.
Then the 1.2 update was implemented. Instantly the small turrets became infinitely more effective and it was possible for DS pilots to gain an appreciable amount of warpoints. WHY? Despite being the weakest they have ever been on paper, they were actually hitting every shot that was aimed correctly. Randoms could jump into a dropship and tear the enemy team apart with no skills required. Good gunners could easily get 30 kills in one match.
Then 1.3 was implemented. Now small turrets are back to their state before 1.2 and gunners struggle to get kills, despite aiming dead on. Even in a tank that isnt moving or pivoting its turret they suffer from the same problem.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the DPS, gunners, drivers, and aiming are not the problem. The small turret's hit detection is. It should take 1/3 to 1 second to kill a stationary scout (200hp) in the open with a scattered neutron blaster (600dps) from a DS. That is just stats and math. Now that same target is taking 2-3 seconds to finish, if at all because now the targets just run away before they can be killed.
Small turrets should perform at their DPS, just like my AR at its DPS. Weapons of all types should perform on the battlefield, just as they look on paper. Mass drivers are finally performing as they should. It is time small blasters and missiles to the same. As for small rails-5000000 isk to anyone who has gotten a kill with these mosquito bite turrets.
Please look into this issue and tell us what is causing the problem. |

That explains a lot of my dropships performance. Is this hit detection confirmed for 1.3? Or just speculative? |

I hopped in some guys tank the other day and would have mowed down a tonne of guys if the HD was working. I was aiming dead on their faces and, nothing. |

Like I said, It doesnt seem to matter whether it is a tank, LAV, or a DS. The hit detection is not there and the math proves it. 600DPS vs 200hp suit=1/3 up to 1 second to kill. What I have witnessed is the same feat taking 3-4 seconds now if at all. |

Small turrets are way off. A few times I hopped into my top small missile turret to get rid of someone harassing my railgun tank, but my missiles clearly flew off the side of my screen, even when the vehicle was stationary and I was aiming almost at point blank.
I can also confirm that other turrets are the same, where when you actually aim at someone you don't hit but get random hits when you're not aiming at someone.
It feels like camera angle and actual turret angle are screwed up a little. As in, what you are looking at is actually skewed to the left of where your turret is shooting. |

I was killed my one just the other day. I remember because it was the first time I ever saw a small rail on the kill feed. |

They should perform just like their bigger counterparts. It's funny that they do 600 damage on paper, but are utterly useless on any type of vehicle. All other turrets and their variants have their uses yet their is no place for small rails. Even if they did work, they are simply outclassed by everything else. |
